Thanks! Unfortunately it was running at almost idle throttle. When going at full throttle their noise is something almost unreal. They could be called "Portuguese Drums", a Portuguese version of the German Class 120 (DR) or Class 220 after the reunification.

I'm not sure if it's accepted now but I believe so. A few years back there was a simplification on the fare system of all public transportation around Lisbon and all tickets became chargeable on a Viva Viagem card so I believe it's accepted now, provided that you charge the card with the correct tickets. Yes it is! Now you also have the ''navegante'' cards, which are basically the same thing.
