I will be checking out your pattern! I used to make shoes similar to this by hand sewing before I got a machine, and I never had a good material for the sole so I just wore them out with canvas soles and tried not to get them wet haha. I even wore them to school

I have a pair of shoes that I became so fed up with not even five minutes ago that I threw them into the burning can to be burned because they are so annoying to wear. But now that I've watched this video I feel really guilty because there are people out there who don't have shoes, and I could have just hot glued or contact cemented or sewn the sole back together, or covered it with fabric, and added a fresh knot to the shoelace, and it would've been fine. But they're gone now, so all I can do is do better next time instead of being wasteful.
Would a waxed linen make a durable sole?
It would last a little bit longer than a fabric sole, but probably only good for inside the house.
