If you're wanting to wait for the M4 MacBooks, then I'd recommend the M4 Max with at least 36gb of unified memory. I imagine the new M4 Max chips will start with a higher amount of ram then the M3's do now. If you're editing 4k footage then you'll want to go with a higher model of chip and ram since the higher quality footage will take longer to render and export on "lower end" models. I would recommend Final Cut Pro. Not just because I use it but also because it’s a native Apple app so it’s more optimized for the M series of chips. If you want a free to use and a simple video editing software then use iMovie 👍🏼 Hope that helps!

Depends what you’ll be doing on it at college. If what you have now is too old and not even loading basic things, the get the M3 now. But if you’re managing just fine and don’t mind waiting to get a possible whole new redesign M4 MacBook then I’d recommend that. All based on what you need now if you can get by with what you have 👍🏼

@TannerBiggan I get some people are in a comfort zone and hate change, especially if it is expensive. However, Pro laptops should be viewed as investments. For those careers that I mentioned, it is immensely helpful and worth the investment. - Drastically faster code rendering and write speeds to Github/Gitlab. - Drastically faster video editing and return to clients or employers. - Drastically quicker export time for photography. - Lower electric bill because less time spent charging. - Faster screen movement with 120hz refresh rate.

@@TannerBiggan ya, that's because you didn't use up loads of CPU and GPU cores. Editing 8K footage might turn on the fan really loud especially if you try to playback it.

@@singaporetransport1305 I have done some 8K editing and it did turn the fans on. Did pretty well rendering it and playing it back but I’d recommend a Mac Pro if you’re doing mainly 8K editing.

@@TannerBiggan If I were given a choice to go for M4 or M3 series MacBooks, I will go for M4 as it is apple's first ever n3e chip. However if I need a MacBook right now, I will go for the M3 instead.

If it’s more work focused like you stated then absolutely the MacBook Pro is the way to go! You did mention gaming and the MacBook can definitely handle games but I wouldn’t count on it running higher blockbusters type games. I’m sure it can but I don’t know to exact extent of it since I don’t use mine for gaming purposes. But the answer is get for your workflow and a small yes for some games.

Hey! SO far I have 0 scratches. I travel with it in a fairly protected sleeve and it also doesn't leave my desk too often unless at a coffee shop, meeting, or travel.

Tough to say! Both companies make amazing phones. It’s all based on UI and preference of what you know. Neither are a clear winner overall. Samsungs have great features that iPhones don’t. And iPhones have great features Samsungs don’t.

Can I ask what your concern is with giving up the SIM card slot? It doesn’t lock your phone into one carrier forever. It’s easy to change carriers if you needed to even if you don’t have a sim to pop in and out :) And it if you had 2 carries it makes it easier to switch to back and forth between them.

Switching ESIM between iPhone and Android (iPhone to iPhone, no problem). I haven't found a way to do this without contacting my wireless provider, T-Mobile.

Not that I’m aware of no. When plugged in you can go to your Finder (my computer) and you should see it on the left hand side where you can open the drive up and eject from there as well. Hope that helps!

The touch bar was on the very first M1 chip they made. Before the M1 Pro and max chips. Yes proxy workflows help and ton! I wouldn’t tell anyone to upgrade who can’t afford it or even has an M1 Pro or Max. All based on needs for what you’re doing 👍🏼

Ended up dropping it on concrete the other day and it didn’t crack but my screen protector I had on it and it did put a lil scuff by the camera but u can’t even see it 😂

Yeah, it was no case, but like I said, it was a little scuffed by the camera nun too major but after that incident, I put a case on it and only take it out when I’m inside my crib 🤣

Yes. I always make sure to use an Apple charger or Belkin. Never buy one from a gas station or dollar store. They can ruin the battery.

Hey man! I’d love to help you out. I’m trying to figure out if you’re wanting to upgrade to a new iPhone or a new MacBook Pro computer? If you have an iPhone 12 mini then upgrading to even an iPhone 14 would be a huge step. Now, you said you’re a musician. So creating music and content is a big part of your life. I don’t you’d need a pro iPhone. The regular 15 or even 14 are great and still have great cameras for recording your shows yourself if needed. I’d say wait for the regular 16 in September and then see if the regular 15 goes on sale for cheaper and pick that up. For a new MacBook, since you’re making music I’d look into the m2 pro if you can. Should be able to get a good deal since the m3’s are out. The M2 will get more updates down the road and possibly last a little longer since it’s a bit newer. Will also have plenty of power for your music editing needs! Go with the 14” since it’s easier for travel. Especially on airplanes. Unless you plan on keep it fairly stationary at home then you can go with the 16”. But I personally like have it for travel which makes it easier with the 14”. Screen since is really the only difference between the two. Hope this helps :)

Yes I believe there is a way you can do it by selecting the M3 Pro chip and then choosing to upgrade to the M3 Max. But you can’t if you select the M3 Max right away on the site.

So I don’t do much gaming on it or have tested that quite yet. All I know is when I had the laptop rendering a ton of 8K footage from a RED cam, it picked the fans up but wasn’t loud at all and the laptop never heated up once. Hope that helps :)

if you're not tied into the eco system of Apple and don't have other Apple products, then I might look into the s23 ultra. photos are similar based on preference of look. And it comes with a much better zoom than the iPhone. If you want more customization then go with Samsung. If you want longevity knowing your phone will get updates for years to come, then go with iPhone. At the end of the day you can't go wrong with either. It's close between both and all based on preference. S23 is newer so maybe go check that out before the iPhone 13 or look at the newer iPhone 14 and 15 pro!
