@@vndiy8963 cool thanks. I admit iam surprise by your results. M390 is not a steel a tough could cut a nail with almost no damage. Many other test showed important damage on the edge with less destructive test. Good work your doing

czy zna Pan prosty sposób na zahartowanie stali m390? ja trzymalem pod palnikiem ostrze w kolorze pomaranczowym od temperatury, przez 15 minut i potem włożylem na sekunde do oleju, po czym przez sekunde pilowalem pilnikiem ostrze, a gdy pilnik zacząl zostawiac ślad na ostrzu, wtedy ostrze wlozylem do troche cieplego oleju na kilka sekund, a nastepnie do zimnej wody i uslyszałem syczenie ostrza w tej wodzie. wyciągnąłem juz zimne ostrze. jeszcze je wygrzeje w temperaturze 260-400 stopni

I broke my N690 Katana today trying to chop a plant base. That's why I am doing some research. I was obviously lied to and taught that N690 is stronger than it actually is....
It gets pretty hard, but the toughness Is not that good
I don't think N690 steel is suitable for making Katana. It has high hardness and sharpness, but lacks toughness
I have the same opinion as you.
If your Katana didn't cost $50,000.00 or more, it wasn't a Katana.
