It is Puerto rican song but was greatly sang by Javier Solis with great Mariachi band. Originaly was sang by trios similar to mariachis. It a cover but I think the cover is the most love and know for. It is imply that the song is for G.I. that where send to war by US since P.R. is part of the US. If you stand in San Juan and listen to this song the effect will hit you HARD. Even this is a Puertorican song but that Mariachi band uffff...sounds so good.😅

Refree produced my 2 favorite Spanish albums. Rosalia's "Los Angeles" and Silvia Perez Cruz' "Granada" ... I don't care for Rosalia's other material - the pop/reggaeton stuff. But her traditional singing is top notch. Still looking for unique Mexican rock? I will recommend Gallina Negra (folk/jazz/rock/traditional/progressive), and Arbatel (theatric rock/prog perhaps)
