I thought that was the display black/white Tornado F3 from Leeming,Flown by Archie Neill and Jim Brown of 25squ,They did a display then returned to Leeming,Great video,Nostalgia personified.👍🇬🇧

Wish these were still at coningsby,Better looking aircraft than typhoon in my estimate,I loved the F3,Great video,Base was busier then too,6 aircraft took off yesterday on night ops,Lakenheath do that in 10 mins,Nice to see Flt lt Gerry Goatham in his red tailed display jet,Saw it at Air fete at Mildenhall brilliant.

Good old days of the Mildenhall air fete,went every year,both days from 1984 onwards,Brilliant days,never did get a reason why they stopped it,Waddington too,Sadly missed.Apart from RIAT the British airshows are rubbish in comparison,Absolute rubbish.

The Canberra heading out is PR7 WT509, solved a long held question that it did indeed fly with 39 sqn after it was transferred from 360 sqn at Wyton.

As a North Wales lad i never missed the Valley airshows and this video takes me back to when you could actually see the aircraft up close without a yellow vest and a hard hat. Can't go to an airshow without binoculars these days.

I attended a couple of these airshows at Upper Heyford back in the day. They were great events, thanks for the great video footage

Really found memories spending my childhood at coltishall definitely miss it it was the best base for viewing the jaguar and visitor's

One of the many airshows I would go to each year during the eighties and nineties.Devastated when the base closed.,airshows are not as varied with different aircraft these days and also cost a fortune to get in!Thanks for the upload.👍

Is that a Rolls Royce with the bonnet up at the start? Not broken down I hope. It's amazing how the BBMF has grown over the last sixty years. Let's hope it's still with us for the next 60 and the bean counters at the MOD don't get their way.

Thinking back to those days whoever thought the UK and the world would end up in todays mess. We couldn't stage such a display now by not having enough serviceable aircraft or even the money for the fuel! I remember the Finningley displays in the 1960's which started with a four ship Vulcan QRA launch and finished with a mock battle with ground attack with pyrotechnics and more. 100,000+ spectators were common and one of the biggest bars I've ever seen in one of the hangers! Halcyon days.

Sure I was there on the Saturday but all remember was rain! - but it did stop because I think there were two static Blackbirds… always preferred the Alconbury shows

I was there. Tornado F3's newly delivered 5 From 5 Squadron and a Lightning on static. Stored F2's on the South side. How low was the Phantom display? Sadly, too low later in the year at Abingdon, as they failed to pull out of a loop on the Friday. RIP

I was at this airshow ! As I remember sallyb was still in here Memphis belle film colours and had a bit of engine trouble at the start of her display did one circuit and landed😢

Still a very busy airfield with excellent public viewing and also home of the BBMF. The Just Jane Lancaster is only a few miles up the road. You won't see the variety of aeroplanes you used to but those Typhoons are always worth watching.

I was actually at that very show, remember the su27 russian knights, well impressive and the best vulcan display I ever saw, noise set off all the car alarms in the car park! the sally b was also a highlight. Thanks for sharing this vid, brought back lots of memories.

That was Abingdon's last airshow as an RAF station. Happy to say I was there.

that was a fanatstic Airshow the last one i went to was 97 & i think my first was 1980,such a great range of fighters & bombers etc back then,ill never forgot the SR-71 displays what a beast,ive got loads of old airshow vhs from Lakenheath,Mildenhall,Woodbrigde,Bentwaters,Alconbury & Upper Heyford still love watching them,great work Peter putting the Airshow on here a joy to watch & greart memories

that was a great Airfete,fanatstic display by the F-14 & sadly one of the last by a RAF Phantom,i beleive ive sill got the VHS & programme in my collection,great to watch & great memories

Brilliant film, expert cameraman! Favourite parts are 24:35 onwards with the old EC135 steep takeoff and then the Nimrod steep turn after takeoff - that wingtip looks very low! Vulcan at 1:46:30, B1 at 2:00:00 and B52 at 2:03:00!

brilliant video, great piece of history there and nice to see. in cornwall i use to see jets regularly screeching overhead with absolutely no warning as theyre silent til on top of you. i use to see them then quickly cover my ears as the noise was terrifying! i enjoyed the experience though and would see them often in the 80's. i remember one day i was in the back garden and a jet flew overhead, it was quite close and i had about half a second warning, you could see right in to the cockpit, the pilot with the mask on and everything before the ground and air ripped with terrific thunder. never see that now. it was an interesting time.
