Helm 1 on Helvellyn and Fischer Ghyll.
What a great hiking loop...Climbing up to the summit of Helvellyn in the lake district, pitching the Wild Country Helm 1 tent, making some food, taking in the vista, spending the night, waking up to clag and descending down into Fischer Ghyll where one waterfall after another tempts me finally in for a cold dip in the Thirlmere Infinity Pool. Enjoy!

Going Wild in Wensleydale
zhlédnutí 133Před 22 dny
If you love wild swimming, hiking, wild camping and nature then this is for you. Wensleydale is a stunning area with amazing cold water swimming spots and waterfalls galore. In this video I swim at Wainwath Falls near Keld and Cotter Force near Hawes. I camp up way up above the farmer's fields where there's no livestock and always leave no trace of course. Fresh air, rabbits, Kites, curlews and...

Half hour Chill Time Pure Relaxation by a Welsh Coast Beach

Many of my viewers tune in to escape the stresses of life and enjoy nature with me. The sights and sounds of the outdoors transport us to another realm and help us switch off. But I'm aware not everyone can take time out often, visit the places I do because of work or family or their physical limitations perhaps. I really think the world is changing and we are heading for a Great Awakening wher...

A hard climb up in the Howgill Hills in Yorkshire, up above Cautley spout where I pitch my Helm 1 tent and spend a quiet albeit windy night in April 2024. Fantastic scenery, wonderful waterfalls, a great cooked meal and a cold dip in the falls in the morning. FANTASTIC! A quiet hike down my local woodland, on a damp drizzly day, making a fire by the burn to cook a late lunch of cheese, onion and mushroom omelette....connecting with nature, listening to the babbling burn, the birds and the breeze bristling through the trees. It's January 2024 and it's minus 3. I headed out for gorgeous hike through the snow and ice up Teesdale and the Hudeshope Beck. The waterfalls were frozen and icicles were everywhere. Lunch was had by a camp fire on the side of the beck. Blue skies and sunshine made it all the more worth the effort. A Year of Wild Camping Escapes

A look back at my wildcamping adventures from 2023. Can't fit them all in here, but some highlights that might whet the appetite to look back at all the videos from last year. Thanks for joining me on my escapes. Here's to many more escapes in 2024. And here's to holding onto our God given freedom!!!
Great camp, that splash pool is amazing, minter that😁👌👍
Good Man, Good Tent ⛺️, nice Area, what more do we want?? I know what...........!!
Go on then Michael....tell me ....what? Lol
@@davesgreatescapes okay Dave🥶 you have asked for: MANY MORE VIDEOS 👍
@@michaelsens3010ah, good answer. Cheers mate. Should have another one next week with a bit of luck 🤞
@@davesgreatescapes Good decision Dave👍🙏
Nice one Dave, cracking swim at the end 👍
@@macinthewild8116 cheers mate. A good cold dip always does the trick for me.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍4
A brave chap for pitching up anywhere named hell!. Great stuff . 👍🏼👏
@@fraserconnell21 Hell Ghyll was my idea of heaven lol
Do you remember how long you've been walking this day?
Only about an hour and a half. It was about 2250 ft but it's quite a gentle climb.
Looked like a fantastic trip, especially the watering hole!
It was, thanks for watching
Lovely video
Thanks for watching
Hello! We wanted to get in touch with you as fellow north easterners (well, I’m Yorkshire) living in Cowshill. Started following your channel and become a bit hooked…. Steven wants a ‘Dave’s great escapes’ V-Neck! Hoping to siphon some Lake District info from you as we’re looking to start venturing over that end. Take care. Jo and Steven
Hi, yes I know Cowshill very well as I had a caravan close by for over 23 years. I'm often up your way. You could email me at blackdeneshepherdshuts@gmail.com if you like to chat. Thanks for watching 👍
@@davesgreatescapes Champion! We’ll drop you a line 😀 Watching Wild boars Fell just now …
@@joannabutterfield3198 lol, that's funny because I'm in that area right now. I'm camping at the opposite side of the Mallerstang valley opposite Wild Boar fell. There's actually 2 Wild Boar videos, one is next to the tarn. Enjoy
Nice one Dave, the swim looked great!
Cheers mate. White water always is mate 👍
Great 👍
Great video Dave, the cold dips are the secret along with breathing techniques ❤ i await your next adventure
Absolutely. Although breathing is fast at first, if you stay in and still your breathing slows and your heart rate falls and you relax. But it's the best when you get out your vibes rise. It's not for everyone but I love it.
Was the water cold? Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. Like 👍4
Yes it was, but it must be less cold now because I could stay in longer. What does the number 4 signify after the 👍 Khurshid? I noticed you often put a number. You have me intrigued lol
Any midges there Dave? Looks amazing
I didn't camp at Glen Etive and instead drove a few miles to that peninsula on loch Linnhe because the ticks at Glen Etive were rife. Picked off 4 in 10 minutes. Midges werent too bad at all tbh. But they're always less on a saltwater loch I find, hence why I camped there
Great video
Thank you for watching, much appreciated
Not been to the Shepard's hut for a number of years now but it's my favourite bothy.
Yes I loved it. Apparently the fire grate has been replaced since I went. Can't wait to go again next winter.
Looked like another great camp, water looked far too cold for me though!
Nah, it's getting warm now lol. Thanks for watching
You have wonderful videos and this is one of them. Just great wave sounds for relaxing.♥
Thank you. I often just sit and relax looking at waves or a stream etc and just wanted to share that with others for a quick fix when we need it.
Many of my viewers tune in to escape the stresses of life and enjoy nature with me. The sights and sounds of the outdoors transport us to another realm and help us switch off. But I'm aware not everyone can take time out often, visit the places I do because of work or family or their physical limitations perhaps. I really think the world is changing and we are heading for a Great Awakening where we all step away from the stress, the fear, the constant propaganda on TV and all the pressure. I'd like to do my bit to alleviate that stress and help people ascend to a higher frequency, a higher state of consciousness if you like! However, you want to use these CHILL TIME videos, whether to meditate, to relax, to calm down, to fall asleep too....Thanks for being here. ENJOY! x
Nice walk in Dave - loved seeing the Dopper. I gotta say you did a good job on the tarp-great shelter and a good looking butty too. Well, all the best for the week ahead. Mark
Thanks mate. I only ever make my shelter like that, I've forgotten the other ways lol
@@davesgreatescapes A pleasure. Hey, I'm an A framer.
@@WyeExplorer cool, I used to build shepherds huts, so yeah, I get you. I always find the simplest route is the best
@@davesgreatescapes Ah, nice one. For sure no need to complicate things.
Dave are you here to torture me of my earlier days? Your videos are so inspiring. I had the army rationing packs whereby you just added water... yuk. Pity you didn't video your tick🕷 moment😂
Ha ha. I was going to include a pic of the damn tick on my belly button but I thought I might lose subscribers lol
Great Vid mate
Dave you need to try some poles to take the strain off your Knees and keep your more up right , ive never looked back since using them, enjoyed your vlog thanks for sharing !👍
Thanks. I tried them and they would be handy downhill maybe 10 % of the time. But otherwise I found them a nuisance. I left them at styles too lol. I just couldn't get used to carrying them, plus I have to use my cameras and it gets kinda busy juggling poles and cameras. I might try again at some point, but it would be a matter of time before I list them en route lol. Same reason I don't wear glasses 🤓
@@davesgreatescapes Dont talk about glasses I left a pair on Watkins path coming back off Snowden , just been In to spec savers for a new pair £168 quid couldnt believe it Lol !
@@bak2earth711 oh no. See what I mean lol. That would be me.

Makes me wanna go back to the lakes ❤
Wow, what an amazing place! Truly, this location exudes an indescribable sense of peace, spectacular video!
Ah thank you. Yes it was heaven
Thanks Dave , just retiring from NHS need to leave baggage behind and get back to nature and breathe , thanks for sharing .👍
Oh you'll be so happy to get out of that corporation. I left in 2017. Best decision ever. Don't put things off, go have adventures
Nice video 👍
Cheers
Hi dave just subscribed How far is the tarn from the car I’m new to wild camping but would like a look over the Lake District I live Newcastle cheers great Viid
From Hartsop carpark about 1.5 miles uphill. It's not too steep and there's two routes....to the right of the beck is a track which is a bit quicker, or to the left which is how I go, you'll see all the falls up to Hayswater. Taking your time it's less than an hour and you can't get lost. Takes only half an hour down in the morning
Great video. Thanks for sharing. 👍11
Thanks for watching 👍
Hats off for going in that water mate , well done 👍
I think I'm addicted to it now lol. It's uncomfortable going in, but you feel amazing afterwards
Great video but have to correct something you said. Grouse can't be hand reared, all grouse on the moors are wild anybody who thinks different are misinformed. 17:59
Nice one Dave - top stuff!
Thanks mate
I too was one of those who thought DI was a lunatic, but after 9/11 I really began digging into documents, treaties, and doing hours of research, and once you see what's really going on, you can't un-see it. Everything begins to make sense.
Absolutely mate. Icke is a national hero/ visionary and should be revered. I wish we'd all listened to him 30 years ago.
Great to see folk enjoying their God given right to access our beautiful land that no man can control or own. Thanks for sharing . Simply stunning. ❤

Just spotted your video Great looking forward to next one. 😊and great advice . Wish more people would take it
Thank you for commenting. I really appreciate it. Yes too many people acted like sheep and gave away their freedom far too easily these past 4 years. I hope more have learned what it's all about and are awake now.
Hi Dave. Hope you are well Brother.. You hit the spot with this one loved the music my favourite scenery and my favourite bird the dipper.. Just love a woodland with a river pushing it's way through. Quite surreal and magical.. Loved the Buzzard at the end if you see one diving they are so fast.. What was the red bird could have been a bullfinch..!! 8:40
Hi mate, yes it was a bullfinch. Hard to capture the buzzard because theyre so high and fast, but nice to hear them screeching too. Love the dippers too. I recorded that song 'Jade' 26 years ago ..thought I'd give it an airing. Thanks for watching mate.
My plesure
Great video of The Shepherd's Hut. Fantastic that you didn't give away its location. I've been several times and was even lucky enough to share one evening with the group that maintain it. All loved the place and it's easy to see why. A special place, Cheers for the vid.
Thanks for watching. Like you I think it's a really special place and I hope it stays that way.
Nice ❤
Thanks for making the time to watch and comment 👍
Now that's my favourite type of video... Beautiful wood complete with stream all the amazing colours wow God really got it spot on.. Hope you're OK after you're slip looked very damp and wellies can be slippy.. God bless my friend. Keep safe. And big thank you for the videos. 🙏🙏❤️

It's interesting how some crave the bustling city life, and others take every moment they have to slip away somewhere quiet and tranquil, be it in nature or holed up at home. Lovely video Dave!
Thank you. Yes you couldn't pay me to live in a city.
