They didn't have any American restaurants when I was there or the new signs, but the buildings street and sidewalk are the same...The first time I was there was marshall law and everone ran to be off the streets by midnight. You would get a hotel room before the bars, and hall ass with your honeyco. LOL

Olongapo was my first port on my first Westpac tour in 1986, and the culture shock was immediate. It took about 3 minutes for me to adjust to this carnival I was emersed in. I was 19 yo and Olongapo was a playground like none I had seen before or since!! It wasn't just due to the LBFMs that were at every disco and bar, it was the smoke of "chicken" shiskabob, the trikes, the jeepnees, the local police, and the mojo!!
You might have owned it back in the day, but the Wolfpack ran through the joint so hard, they had to close the freakin base down! Good times.....good times.

You heard that song playing in the clubs almost as much as "Ice Ice Baby." Hope you're doing well Emily V. Bo. You made being away from home so long tolerable. Always in my prayers.
WOW! Does this bring back memories. I was one of the last groups of American servicemen when Magsaysay was all clubs and shops. I'm so glad to see that everyone came together to clean up Olongapo when the bases closed after the Pinatubo eruption. So many wonderful memories. I'd probably not recognize the place if I visited. Stay strong Olongapo. I can't believe there's a Kenny Rogers Roasters in this picture. Hard to believe it's been 16 years.
