I was in FF today, I got a Celtic mature cheese 350g for 99p and a 500g bag of variety biscuits for 59p. The bargains are a bit hit and miss these days but good for snacks and staples.

I have a recipe from the good food magazine a few years ago and the crumble topping is cooked separately to the fruit. It comes out more like shortbread and not soggy.

You need to try the longley farm cottage cheese (full fat) it’s sold in a few of the main supermarkets. It’s absolutely delicious and thick (not watery or sour at all!) and puts all other cottage cheese to shame 😂

Great haul as per usual Vicki, I love watching your shopping hauls, I get some great ideas. I love cottage cheese and to be honest none of them came up to the mark. Then I discovered a cottge cheese from Longley farms. I bought it in home bargains and i kid you not, I ate the whole tub with a teaspoon lol, it was sooooo good. Only other place that seems to sell it is Morrisons, look out for it, its amazingly tasty but not the low fat or the one with chives. Sainsbury's also sell a Polish pork loin slices, they're called Morlinky, they are amazingly tasty. Thank you so much for sharing xxx

The water comes out from not have enough space for the meat to crisp up, from over crowding the pan. The fat you cut off would have added more flavor. You can always drain the bacon after it is crisp. If you add it to your baked beans with some diced green bell pepper, onion that has been sautéed in the drippings then add in the cooked bacon along with some brown sugar, dab of mustard, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce will yield a delicious product to be served along chicken, fish, pork or beef. If you use a baking potato, like a russet ( couldn’t tell if that is what you used from lighting), the best way to get that wonderful crisp texture on outside and fluffy inside is to gently poke the potatoes with the point of a knife, all over, then rub the potatoes with some oil all over…then sprinkle with some salt. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for around an hour. Same amount of time needed to bake your baked beans. Put a small pork roast( that has been seasoned and browned) in a slow cooker with a cubed onion, a 12 oz can of soda ( preferably coke or root beer), and a bottle of barbecue sauce. Cook on low for 4-6 hrs. You want it to fall apart. Pull the meat apart, then add some more of your favorite barbecue sauce and serve on hamburger buns. Most or all lot of Americans like a coleslaw on the sandwich. Also, you can make the twice baked potatoes up before baking and place on a cookie sheet and freeze individually for when you want/ need one and there isn’t time to make them. If you want to stretch your potatoes even further make the twice baked filling and place in a freezer/ oven proof baking disk and dollop with some pats of butter. Cover tightly with foil and freeze. Pull out night before and defrost in fridge then bake in 350 degree oven until hot and slightly browned. You can always sprinkle with some cheese on top if you want. Take the potato skins and cut into thirds and freeze individually. Place in a freezer bag for when you have enough to make potato skins topped with cheddar cheese, green onions and crispy cooked bacon. Serve with sour cream for those that like it. Just some extra ways to stretch your products…plus, baked beans or any cooked beans can be frozen and brought out when needed. Hope this helps someone.

I really like smoked mackerel pate as well. I use a tin of mackerel in tomato sauce but I don't put the sauce In , I just prefer the taste of them rather than ones just in.oil. I'm.realky funny I don't like things oily either even.if you drain it off I find things a bit slimy.!! I've Bedn recipe hunting today trying to find new things, the new tesco magazine has some nice things in, so does last months so got few things i want to try.
