    Where is the demonstration of this system in action? Even spinning. What speed? The rpm has to overcome the bending in the shaft from mere weight of the flywheel and variations in the shaft. I don't see how if spinning at any useful speed one would be able to find wobble on any sort of dial indicator or laser setup without great effort. On a dial indicator your would see a blur of the needle even at 200 rpm; presuming you can observe the highest reading, you'll probably destroy the tool. Laser with wall mounted graduation 20 feet from the flywheel maybe, but it would probably look like a blur at an appropriate speed. Maybe photograph with ultra high frame rate and playback slow. There has to be sufficient speed to produce wobble. The dynamic charting system is great.

    • @roadracenut
      @roadracenut Před 4 měsíci

      You are only looking for max displacement. This is not hard to observe or dangerous for the indicator if the shaft is smooth.

    Harley Davidson motorcycle flywheels are traditionally balanced in a static balancing device. This method has been used now for generations. Both S&S and Truett and Osborn manufacturers of aftermarket performance flywheels for these engines recommend the static balancing process. Note motorcycle wheels on sportbikes etc...are statically balanced. Refer to the following link to "Tatro Machine" czcams.com/video/nH79QfbRK2g/video.htmlsi=U1a0Spd_CqsDwc8B

    I would not recommend this. Fuel is set at the level of that tube for a reason. Honda made millions of these carbs for many many years. It was not just by chance that the overflow tube was a 1/2" too short. By raising this, you allow fuel to rise to the level of the the intake boot and drain over into the cylinder. This is why it appears your leak has stopped. It did not stop because you did not address the real issue. All that fuel is now in your cylinder and crank case. If you are going to do this, you might as well take a fuel resistant epoxy and just close off the overflow tube all together, as you have completely negated its purpose. The $40 Amazon carbs are very hit or miss on quality. You are much better off to rebuild the factory carb if at all possible.

    • @jacobsarah2323
      @jacobsarah2323 Před 5 měsíci

      Eric, I replaced my carb with a cheap Amazon replacement a year ago. It’s been running great but I recently ran into an issue with getting it cranked. Battery is new, turns over fine but won’t fire. I thought I had a full tank of gas but then realized it was all gone. Filled up the tank and it still would not crank but then realized half the tank leaked out over night. Are you suggesting that my cheap Amazon carb could be the problem?

    • @jacobsarah2323
      @jacobsarah2323 Před 5 měsíci

      @@ericpigg2689 Yes gas is on the ground. Would that also explain why it won’t crank?

    • @ericpigg2689
      @ericpigg2689 Před 5 měsíci

      @@jacobsarah2323 There are many reasons why it wouldn't start but this could be a contributing factor for sure. Pull the air cleaner element out and shoot a spray of carb cleaner into the carb. If it fires off and runs for a couple of seconds, that tells you it is a fuel delivery issue. If it will not fire with that shot of carb cleaner, I would check the machine for spark next. If it fires on carb cleaner, I would pull the carb and rebuild it or replace it if you do not feel comfortable pulling it apart.

  • @ripptydevibes2581
    @ripptydevibes2581 Před 10 měsíci

    This is not a fix. This is a go around for a faulty float needle. Raising that overflow effectively now gives the "excessive leaking overflow" straight to the engine, washing the cylinders with fuel, decreasing ring life drastically.

    Is there any definitive way to clean cylinder heads. I’ve looked up them all, and there’s always some that say to never do it this way, and then others say the way that person is doing it is completely wrong. Personally, I like using a plastic scraper first off with some gasket remover, and then I like to use those scotch Brite discs. But, I’ve heard plenty of people say never to use those. And then I’ve seen people on here (specifically a technician for the Fel-Pro company) say to use a crimped steel brush on a drill-which I would never do, and I’m not even going to attempt to try it. It just seems there’s no absolutely sure way to clean them. I’m an automotive student at the local junior college and even all four of the different instructors have a different way with aluminum heads. I was even thinking about using ceramic razor blades to get the tough stuff off. So, if there’s any 30 year veteran Master Techs that can steer me in the sure fire right direction, I’ll gladly take your advice. Thank You. Alex

So I pulled the motor and set it in the floor and I power it up . Takes of slowly.. I meggered the motor and the winding seem to be OK. I checked the coil grouping seems to be correct now for low voltage. I going to buy a vfd and I going to buy one big enough to run my lathe if I ever need to . Can I use a vfd that has the capacity for 5 hp on the bridge port..any brand of vfd you recommend. Thanks for the video

      Look for a VFD that can operate at single phase 220. Generally pick a VFD rated at double the motor size because there is a large de-rate when you run a 3-phase motor on single phase .
