    nice video! thank you! i was lucky enough to spend 3 years in Wertheim Germany, i believe not to far from Gamburg. I love this region. The apple orchards are amazing and the apples so very delicious. the apples here in southern california are no comparison in taste. Also, just as you described, the cherry trees, plum trees, walnuts, and pear trees were just as delicious. If you ever vacation in this region, do yourself a huge favor and find some village fruits. You will not be disappointed and if you look around you might be lucky enough to find some wild blueberries, raspberries, gooseberries, or blackberries. If you know what you are looking for and at, mushrooms!

    Just one thought. We can revegetate the entire planet in fifteen years while producing more food, more fuel, more medicine and fibre per acre. It will help farmers and rural residents by planting trees on private farmland, and will increase farmers’ incomes by 400 to 800% over seven to fifteen years. In this kind of projects we don't have just one cash crop per year.

    I want to see this man push a wheelbarrel full of crates with apples, while it has been raining. (very normal in autumn to rain lots when the apples ripen) There will be no very easy harvesting there without heavy machinery aiding you. This will be very labor intensive and therefor everything coming from that forest will be expensive, especially if you build this in larger scale.

    27:06 "I'm really interested in scaling up and we know that these systems deliver in terms of "biomass production"" Is this guy really suggesting that people should scale up this way of agriculture just so you can cut it down to produce energy out of biomass? 27:17 "what farmers are interested in, is in having money to pay the school fees and build a house and go on holiday like everybody else." Is that really a farmer's main concern?

    • @heathertoomey7068
      @heathertoomey7068 Před 2 lety

      The reason biomass production is important where they are is that before, nothing could grow because the soil was low quality. Biomass decomposes into good dirt. This allows farmers to grow, make money, and make enough money to be able to send their kids and maybe even themselves to school, so they can get out if poverty and live with a good standard of living.

      @Max Mees Biomass to feed the fertility of the system through cold, fungal decomposition (transformation), not hot composting (entropic, energy loss as heat), and definitely not through combustion for steam-turbine energy generation.
