Tool - Descending *Extended Lyrics* Live at @ Phoenix 02/10/24 Audio Only
I wanted to share with you guys this version of descending where Maynard extends the lyrics on the second half of the song. I believe that on the second night of Phoenix, it was the first time that Maynard added more from his part during the instrumental of the song. I felt really lucky to be able to witness this remarkable and amazing moment. Anyways, I wanted to share it with the rest of you. Enjoy and Spiral Out.

‘One drive…rise to stay alive’ Literal chills
I always felt like something was missing. Descending has been in the works for so long, feels pretty damn complete now. Just need a Descending^2 Studio recording and music video and we'll have come full circle.
This will go down as a legendary performance I think, four amazing musicians connected and firing on all cylinders.
Maynard has sounded fantastic on this 23/24 FI Tour. He sounded good when I saw them in 20 and 22, but he’s just been on another level lately.
This is the "Definitive" version of this song. Not an "Alternate" or "Extended". This should have been what was on the album.
I always felt like maynard exited this song too early on the album and had a lot of potential for the song to have a bit of a bigger vocal climax.
They played this song two nights later in Fresno, I was there. Maynard didn't add lyrics in the second half, you caught lightning in a bottle
I was at that Fresno show too. Bummed we didn’t get this version.
Dear Maynard. Please go to a studio and record these extra parts. Release it as a special edition much like Opiate 2
They REALLY should, like go in, record the extended version of Prison Sex, Stinkfist, the two different versions of Schism, Lateralus, like they have to know how much we all want those.

I was there, I heard Maynard singing during the second half of Descending! It was amazing, one of my favorite live TOOL moments ever! I knew someone recorded it! Thank you brother!

Oh is this what it sounded like? I wouldn't know, I was at this show and some jackass was standing in front asking me where his freaking seat is, he wouldn't leave me alone!! This is my favorite Tool song and he bothered me during the new lyric part to top it off. Don't go to a concert if you would rather drink than watch the band, be an alcoholic at home not at a concert. PS screw the dude in the cowboy hat that kept walking in front of me too.
Man that fuckin sucks, this reminded me of the night tool started playing in powertrip and this guy next to me was telling me how good Maynard sounded and comparing it to another concert. And in my head I was like let me enjoy the fuckin show!! We can talk once tool is done.

Thanks for sharing! Does it sound like Adam Jones is playing some new notes during the intro around 1:09 into your video? He did the same thing night one in Phoniex without the new lyrics from Maynard. I just went back and re-listened to the shows at Madison Square Garden and the new guitar notes we not there.
