    I just got into this hobby for Christmas and this was the one I decided on before I saw the videos of people hating on it. I am really enjoying it in stock form and upgrading it slowly but I only have one major complaint; torque twist. The amount this thing just wants to yeet itself on its back in stock form is wild and I have yet to find a fix.. I just widened and lengthened my track but I’m waiting on a new front servo cause my stock one started getting the wiggles lol

      @ThePreppersBunkerOutdoors with a sealed beadlock rim, softer tires not only look better crawling over things but they grab alot better with less tire pressure, with them being super soft it allows the tires and treads to sink into the rocks and whatever else it's on, I always preferred no foams for looks and preformance, unless you want to just speed around then it's a terrible mod

      I have the same tires and they run significantly better with the harder foams. It certain scenarios having no foams definitely works but in vertical climbing you don’t want the back tire to start buckeling.. especially on a scale tire that’s the equivalent of running 48 inch tires on a real truck. My advice, try the harder foams.. I think you will enjoy much more!

    I get Axial looking to hit a price point. It's business. But at the same time, it's risky to include parts, like their servo, that a well known let down. It does say something. I just think it be smart if Axial would offer at least a couple versions of the scx24's like Furitek has done. Have the rtr base model, but have a "Plus" or "Comp" version. Better servo, motor, metal gears, etc. The market segment seems to have grown enough that people want something that's "upgraded" RTR out of the box. Not everyone wants to tinker and mod. They just want to charge it up and go play. Nothing wrong with that. But I think Axial is leave a lot of people standing at the curb by not having a more premium rtr version.

    Good vid! Great closing statement!! 😆😆 I've not watched every YT vid on 1/24's, but have watched quite a sh!t load. One thing I'm surprised to see, or not see as is the case, is more DIY'ing. I realize stuff in the US is quite cheap and easy to get with free shipping (So not the case up here in Canada!!!). But for a lot of folks, spending $10-20 on a part is a big chunk of cash they may not have could go to more important bills. Like frames/rails. They could be diy'd with simple tools and cheap materials like wood or found bits of metal or plexiglass, etc. Takes some thinking and careful measuring, but totally doable for the average person. Not that this is or should be the focus of your channel. I just mention it to through it out there for consideration when doing reviews or how-to's on the topic of low to no budget mod's. :)

    I think the issue that specialty channels universally run into is their own viewers not thinking and translating what they're seeing and being told. I noticed Matt is constantly making reference to what he says as "....i my(his) opinion..." And that's the bit people don't often get. Tires are a prime thing that stirs the pot and it's totally unnecessary. There are so many variables that go into whether a tire works for a person or their rig or the terrain they drive, that it's impossible to say a tire "sucks" or "is the best".

    • @Jakesrcadventures
      @Jakesrcadventures Před rokem

      I agree, however I will add with tires that while there can't be a universally best tire there are plenty that can certainly be worst- And of course it would be hard to figure out but by the law of nature there is a best tire for each rig in each environment and a best balanced tire/ insert as well. It just might not translate directly from one user/ rig to another.

    • @wingnutbert9685
      @wingnutbert9685 Před rokem

      @@Jakesrcadventures I do agree. There are ones that are working for more people and ones that are not so good for most people. And it is context. Lots of folks talk about how good a tires compound is because it's soft and sticky. That's likely the way to go for slow crawling rock and indoor diy surfaces. But then there's mud, trail running, sand, etc where a 'cheap' and stiff/hard tire compound would be better. It's just a tough thing to review and I admire anyone willing to step into the line of fire when doing tire reviews! LOL! :)

About the only thing I dislike about the platform is the worm gear differential. Everything else is a matter of, if you don’t like it there is an upgrade for it you will like. I know Matt pretty well as he is local to me and although i cant disprove what you said beyond a shadow of a doubt i can tell you that i absolutely know that his passion for rc's is legitimate, he absolutely loves what he is doing, and ill say that i do believe his intentions are absolutely to be honest. With that said, i do 100% agree about the need for grass roots youtube channels sharing genuine, honest content. That is what youtube is supposed to be.

      @@Jakesrcadventures Given he got the name wrong off the start, I'm not even sure he's talking about Matt. That or he's not actually watched Matt's channel. Look forward to binging your vid's and seeing more. Fantastic area of your property! I'm fortunate to be on a big wooded property. I'm new and just getting started and learning. I've built and continue to build trails on my property and now am looking at areas with an eye for course making.

      @Wing Nut Bert dude I'm stoked for you! I have more to come, and I have what I think will be a pretty awesome idea for building portable customizable and cheap outdoor courses! And Matt is the man for sure, I have a new larger area local to me and I am thinking about hosting 2 giant rc get together events a year near mammoth cave, it'll be epic!!!

      Your off to a good start, I’ll be looking forward to more videos. It cracks me up when people start dumping weight on these little crawlers & then complain because their motor burnt out or the steering servo broke. Though I agree the stock servo is crap, I’ve had them go out on a stock rig. EchoPower also makes a good servo at a reasonable price. I have one rig with one of the $50 servos that all the reviewers swear by. To be honest I can’t tell much difference between it & my Emax or echopower servos. Maybe it’s because my rigs don’t weigh 800g.

      Thanks! I mean, if people want to make a 20lbs model car than can barely drive around more power to them- Its just hard seeing every new person asking for advice being told by 100 people to buy 100 different silly things by people who dont even crawl! I have only really run 1 nicer servo, it was Matt's Shift servo- it was so fast and strong that it totally flung me off my line. I looked at him embarrassed because i was so caught off guard haha But generally i find the emax's to be all i need, and out of the first 4 i bought only 1 has burnt out, and it wasnt even the oldest one! The c10 shown in the video is still running the original emax i put into it YEARS ago! Anyways, glad to have you. I am going to try very hard not to make too many LONG videos like this but i reckon a few folks will enjoy em haha

    Glad you finally decided to go for this! We need more people like you on CZcams. I don’t really watch RC stuff on CZcams for the reasons you mentioned. Too many paid off reviews out there. One of the reasons I started my channel. Can’t wait to get back out to your spot! We got some vids to make!

      Haha in similar fashion i never watch knife, gun, or survival videos haha You have encourage people, myself included, to get out and do more crawling seperate of the marketing. I hope to do something similar in my own way!

      I agree with you Matt. But I also try to keep in mind that for some, sponsorship may be the only way they can afford stuff, so I can't fault them for taking advantage of the opportunities it affords them. They just need to be more up front about it. But it's also up to the viewers to be educated enough to disseminate bias when they see links for products, etc. It's about balance, but not at the expense of honesty. Most folks can't afford to buy tons of stuff and experiment like yourself and some others on YT. They need the honest info when choosing what to spend their limited budgets on. (I'm making the assumption you're fortunate enough to have the means to buy lots of kit, based on you're vid's and, for one, appreciate you doing so for our benefit.) Your expenditures on the hobby are obviously much greater than most can afford and are appreciated! Thanks!
