Chicks 2
zhlédnutí 53Před 10 lety
The chicks are getting bigger. I put my GoPro on a pole and tried to sneak it up to the nest, which is about 8 feet up there. I shot two short videos and stitched them together. In the second video Mommy Bird was just leaving. I see only 2 chicks now, not sure if the third is hidden or did not make it.
3 Chicks in a nest.

Each year the birds try to build a nest on my down spout, and each year it blows down. So this year I wired a basket up there and the Mommy bird laid 3 eggs and now we have 3 chicks.

WSLCo Shay #12 in Sn3 Speed Test with LocSound decoder
zhlédnutí 792Před 11 lety
This is a PBL WSLCo Shay in Sn3 with a Loc Sound decoder installed. Some people have asked me to run a test to see how the decoder sounds a full speed. I was able to get the Shay up to notch 28, which is as fast as she would go. I normally run the Shay between notch 4 and 12, on my NCE throttle.

Denver & Rio Grande Western 340 is a Narrow Gauge 2-8-0 “Consolidation” class C-19 built in 1881 by Baldwin. It pulled trains through out the D&RGW system as number 400 and then renumbered to 340. It was retired in the 1950s and now operates at Knots Berry Farm. Rio Grande Southern 41 is a Narrow Gauge 2-8-0 “Consolidation” built in 1881 by Baldwin. It pulled trains through out the RGS system. Now operates at Knots Berry Farm.

I call them a treadmill, but I think the proper term is rolling stands, they are great for breaking in an engine or tuning the decoder. You don't have to worry about the engine running over the programming track. The are produced by Bachrus Inc, just search google for Bachrus

Hey Bob; Yes Jimmy weathered this for me. Basically I shot a few pictures of my other PBL Shays and ask Jimmy to do about the same. So I would say that this is a medium weather. I normally ask him to put a little rust on the smokebox, hard to see in this video. PBL did a great job with these Shays, they run really smooth.

I can work on that. My test track is only 3 feet long so not much room for a speed test. I do have a tread mill that I can put her on, that would allow me to give her a good run. I normally don't go about speed set 8 or 10 when she is running on the layout. Might have to wait until next weekend to do a video. Thanks for looking at my video.
