I had one of these. Escort 55. 55 being the horsepower. God was it dangerously slow. I tried to pull off the hard shoulder once after it broke down. Couldn’t get my speed up quick enough before the next slip road was joining 😂
Yeah they are around 68 hp the 1.8d. Or around 75hp for a 1.4cvh. The 55 means how much weight you can load in the back tho. 55 = 550kg. And the rare 75 = 750kg.

If you watch KB motors he blew his up because there was no vacuum connected to the catch can the crank case pressure was too high because the small vent wasn't enough to evacuate the pressure. Worth a look.
Just looked. I think it had more to do with 2 bar through a stock motor myself. I have changed this catch can now to one with 3 - 19mm outlets. So the filter on the top is 19mm - his looked tiny mind
any idea where to purchase this in 2024? Having a seriously hard time, cheers for the video mate

Did you see wear on the uniball joints? I have the same shifter and after 2 years of use it started to do a lot of noises when you shift. I will grease it just to be sure. I use it alot also, it is a group A Saxo and I drive it to the track, race it 2-3 hours and then back home.I don't feel like the gear changes are different, still works perfectly.

A long time to get it to sit just right so engine is level. Some of these swaps the engines in all pissed.

Any idea how big of a swap this was mate? Im stuck on engine swapping one myself with either a pd130/150 b204 or a bam 1.8t
Lots n lots of work loads of fab work require and custom one off parts made it cost a lot.
thought about swapping my mk4 hubs for mk5 ones for stud conversion, but looks like i would need a puller to get it off, something i dont have yet

Like to be different , much better than Zetec stuff or cvh and the gearboxs are so much stronger as standard.

I remember seeing this car at Loton Park back in the early 90s the speed it approached corners and then shed speed was like an open wheeler-Plus the noise-Must dig out my old home handy cam video tapes.
Would be great to see as when this was king of the hill back then it was kind of before everyone had a cam

Stunning build mate.Do you plan on upgrading the rods soon to go bigger power? or just enjoy it as it is?
The rods will be done at some point but tbh right now its fast enough for what I want. A better diff will also help as you have to hang on

This engine is extremely popular on the racing scene here in South Africa. VAG using it in so many cars like the Mk4 GTI, Audi TT, Audi A3, Polo GTI etc... Is enough proof as to how bullet proof this motor is 🙂

@@rs__daz hee hee so their spares are nicer than their full sets. Very resourceful to use them like you have. Got that cool banded look about them.
They are black / spare wheel. Very cool look which are similar to the standard van wheel. Sprayed up silver look nice.
Great built this. little tip unclip the dipstick tube rotate it 180° and refit it it comes out on other side of the plenum

Absolutely gorgeous 😍😍👌🏻. I’ve had a few of these ( two old post office vans 2 x old bt vans) all non turbo diesel so extremely slow but amazing on fuel. I’d still rather have this over my caddy now
