Cornwall Lure Fishing! (Plus Bonus Boat Fishing!)
This week sees me visit the magical Cornish coastline in search of some predatory fish! Armed with my trusty spinning rod and lures I set the alarm for 5am and hit some rock marks hoping to hook into the Pollack, Bass and Wrasse. On top of that this video includes footage from a recent Sunset lure session I had on the boat a couple weeks ago on the Dorset Coast!

@SeaSmith yeah definitely. I have just done a load of work on the boat and I'm tempted to come down Sunday to try it, but we will see what the weather does.

Thanks for the kind words, appreciate you watching! I use a 60lb braid straight through to my rig with no leader. I try to avoid using leaders wherever possible as I often find they catch weed and other gunk! You may know already from your previous fishing days but the general rule of thumb is 10lb of line for every oz of weight. Happy fishing and hope your journey back into sea fishing is full of tight lines! 👍
@@SeaSmith Hi, my main line is 20lb with a 18 to 70lb tapered shockleader so far its been ok but im always looking to improve.
That’ll do you no problems at all, personal preference really. If fishing over rocky ground I would use a tapered also but nearly all the marks I fish are sandy so choose to keep with the heavy braid mainline.

Always lovely to see dolphins. I always seem to miss them in the bay. The weather has been mad this year, last time out the wind changed direction and strength at least 3 times, which is odd
I’ve been very lucky the last few months to spot them a few times, although this is the first time I’d seen the whole pod feeding together in such a way!
Enjoyed this and new to the boat fishing not caught yet but we just getting to grips with the lowrance system and chart plotter so with time we will find them spots we are over at swanage and old harry
That’s great to hear! Some fantastic spots to fish close to that area! Have you given Poole Patch/Southbourne Rough a go? If not would be a good start for some mixed fishing

That was me that showed you the double 11 1/2 lb , had some cracking fish this year and should get better for the big fish as autumn brings the squid shoals in.

Nice. Just a heads-up - you're in a drone no-fly zone there, now, without permission from the Fleet & Chesil Reserve - and they say they want a ranger with you when you fly! Their website refers to a potential £20k fine for regs breach. It's very tedious..
@@ianlishmanphotovideo4142 thank you 👍 and cheers for the heads up! My understanding is that the website wording states no flying within the reserve area but the no fly map shows the boundary around the dragons teeth.
@@SeaSmith Hmm I think you're right. My flight app shows the SSI extending west of the teeth and I confused it with the Reserve. I also had in my head their reference to a space from Ferrybridge visitor's centre to 2km west of Abbotsbury car park. But, looking at the map, it looks like that's not the Reserve's footprint but just a reference to a management plan which covers an extended area. Sorry to panic you and thanks for setting me straight!

@@fishdisco3107 Thanks! It’s a great mark offering some great mixed species fishing. Can have some good fun with Bass, Bream, Hounds and Wrasse and one of the few “quiet” spots on the Bournemouth/Christchurch coastline. Hope to see one of your fantastic cook ups there soon! 😂🧑🍳

Cheers pal! Chesil really is a special place! I film everything off my iphone with the light on which fairs quite well - but for some shots I'll also light up with my headtorch (LedLenser MH10) which I've found to be brilliant

Hi, Great day fishing there pal. Can I ask you, What is the make and model of that trolly you was using as the one I have the wheels keep digging into the shingle Plus can I ask as to what the white box with the chopping board is and where can I get one. Thanks my friend. Tight lines
The trolley is from a company called trail.co.uk - it does well but same as most trollies, if you pile on the weight it does dig in a little bit! Funnily enough the cool box was from a wine company called good pair days 😂

Watching these videos has made me want to get a boat. What boat do you have? What would you recommend for a first timer?
It’ll be the best decision you’ll ever make! This is a Mayland 18. My own boat is a Maxum 1800 which I use as a fishing/sports boat. All depends on what you want from a boat but the engine is where you really want to spend the money. Warrior boats are very good boats for open tops, if wanting more creature comforts/small cabin then the merry fisher range would be my pick 👍 Hope to see you out there!

Yes! She’s currently still ashore at Avon (Maxum 1800 SR3 btw 😀) Should be back in the water in the next week or 2 with some more overnight trips planned for her!
