Been out there all day roasting in the sun from 11:30am til 7pm. Only other fish I caught was a hard head, had 3 bites fishing cut Mullet on a Carolina Rig the entire day. Flounder was the last fish I expected to catch jigging soft plastics...

I wish I could fish with him more often. We just have incompatible work schedules. Fortunately when he hit me up to go this day I had been in a weird sleep schedule of working til 5am but not able to sleep til like 2pm.

All the shrimp are sold, I do have some frozen croaker for bait my buddy never came to pick up yet

We launched out of Kenner from Williams boat launch. Probably went like 8 miles out. Funny thing about this trip is I typically catch my shrimp off the seawall near orleans canal. The past couple years I wound up catching more shrimp in the cast net than we did from the boat. This year, none off the seawall but epic haul in the boat. Just look for muddy water, that's where the shrimp try to hide.

@@YeetOutdoors504 I'm just getting my boat back on the water after a long hiatus, and I'm having a lot of fabrication work done, so as soon as it's finished I'm going to start pulling my trawl again. I have been keeping up with the catch this year and it has been the best catch in decades, only problem, no one is paying stitch for shrimp at the dock. Can't even sell them sometimes so that is why I don't believe there are many boats out there. Some guys can't even cover costs after selling their catch and that's IF they can sell it. Damn imported shrimp is killing our fisherman. Now, for someone just going to fill a few freezers, there has never been a better time. Can you imagine what those shrimp will look like in a month or two with no pressure on them? They are going to be huge. Anyway, I really like the video. Your dad is awesome. Looks just like some of the guys I knew when I was young and pulling trawls in Fourchon.

I heard there are sac-a-lait in city park for years, but never found them using typical sac-a-lait jigs. Always thought that was a myth. Every one that I caught that day was bigger than any I had ever caught before. I was fishing that same spot 2 days ago fishing a micro topwater popper and had quite a few swipes at that lure, but couldn't set the hook in anything. I know at least 2 of the blow-ups I had were from sac-a-lait from the brief moment I saw that.

@@isaacsmith5188 ah yeah, you offered me some worms the other day when you were leaving this spot? I had been bouncing all over Bayou st. John and City Park fly fishing using those ultralight topwater poppers. I still gotta work on fly fishing, but the poppers I was using got several swipes but no hookups. I've had lots of luck using similar sized hard plastics, just not so much with that topwater I was using. Seems to have potential though.

I'll brink ya'll some stickers next time I stop by.

I got a cane pole and a tenkara rod, kinda hesitant to use something like that without a reel in case I hook into something bigger than those rods can handle...

I saw on WGNO news there's a mystery fish swimming in city park. Looks like I'm gonna have to go back to show the world what it is.

The biggest was on that Matrix Minnow jerkbait. I could see Sac-a-lait trying to eat that, but that bluegill swimbait could barely fit in their mouths... That was an H2O express swimbait I was using

It's been hard locating the big ones bedding in city park this year, most of the spots I've been looking around this side of the park are covered in duck weed along the bank.

Let's hit the Lakefront this week. Specks are back on the trestles, hopefully that means the action at our spot is kicking back up.

Heard that's where the big ones were this year when they announced the winners Had to see for myself and step up my bed fishing game.

@@YeetOutdoors504 they got big ones all over the park the tennis courts are good because they have so many briars . I made a underwater video of how I approach bed fishing it’s got a lot of good info in it .

I'm probably gonna go back tomorrow and look around other spots.

Hopefully my podna takes me near Toledo Bend later this week to catch some sac-a-lait out there. If not, Im gonna do an after the Rodeo episode the way I should have fished today. I got skunked this time. Great meeting you at the rodeo.

It's been confirmed as a golden shiner. The scale pattern looked like a bit like a juvenile carp at first , but the mouth didn't look like a carp. Had a feeling it was some type of shad or shiner.

I also thought shiner were much smaller than that, but I've never fished with shiners before.
