I’ve had mine for 3 years haven’t had a problem just purchased another exact sub QSC for more power 👍🏾
The qsc ks118 has power and plays nicely, but it breaks down often and many people also had problems with it, repair service. Due to frequent breakdowns - I sold it after repair. I recommend - Yamaha Dxs XLF. I don't see any worthy competition yet. I'm waiting for a new, failure-free sub-bass

What brand of xlr are good for this speakers?
For audio cables we really like LEX and Whirlwind for XLR. A good budget option is HOSA's "Pro" series of cables. If you wanna learn more about XLR cables we posted a video about the topic recently: czcams.com/video/dc3FiW4Mjkg/video.html
The subwoofer is good, but it breaks down very often. Mine has already been in for repairs three times in two years. The problem is always with the power supply. It's a very unreliable product.
Sorry to hear that! That's lot. We haven't had that issue yet with ours, but we'll keep your comment in mind if ours go down. Thanks for sharing.
What is the hottest outdoor temperature can the KS118 be used in?
Here is what we could find in the manual: Do not operate the subwoofer with its amplifier module exposed to direct sunlight because overheating will cause its protection circuitry to reduce its maximum output. For full performance to specification keep the ambient temperature to below 50° C (122° F). Hope that helps!
How do you connect two speakers with tei k12 2 when you use your phone or tablet for audio music ? How do you plug them?
There are a couple of ways to go about this. Something that is common between the ways is running an XLR cable from your input speaker, we’ll call that one Speaker A, to the second speaker, Speaker B. My suggestion is to use the “Mix Out” from Speaker A and run it to “Input A”, the top one, of Speaker B. Do note that the “Mix Out” sums up the DSP setting from Speaker A. So if you do any processing on Speaker A, DON’T on Speaker B unless you really need to. BT Connection: Connect a BT receiver to Speaker A and wirelessly pair your device to the receiver. AUX Cable: If your device has a 3.5mm jack, you can run an AUX cable and plug it into “Input C”. You could also use a Multimedia Direct Box to convert the signal into XLR, but that’s kind of an extra step. Hope this helps!
Bought the QSC KS212c over this for portability. Love it but it’s too wide so bought a EV EKX15 sp hits harder and not always in cardioid mode.
My my
My my my 👋
Recently booked my first gig as a lighting technician and this was a very helpful crash course! Thank you for this.
Glad we could help!
how do you disable the crossover to use an external driverack? what type filers and slope are used??
Sorry to say, but the QSC KS118 doesn’t have an option to disable the crossover. As for filters and slopes there is no one size fits all solution its VERY case by case. The space they the gear is in, what speaker is connected to what sub, the quality of equipment, ect. So that’s not something we can give a straight answer to. Hope that helps!
Qsc subs suck One yorkville has as much bass as 2 of those junk
What Yorkville? You know there are more than one kind of Yorkville Subs? You know there are more than one kind of QSC Subs? I think you don't know what your are talking about, because PA Systems can't be meassured because they are one kind of brand or another. Specs and build quality are the only things you can compare. Quality of sound will always be subjective.
Yorkville is overprice and sucks
Also QSC is better and I plan to buy a ks118 and pair of k12.2 for my inventory
appreciate chief .. very helpful video
Glad we could help!
I just got two of these, and I use them for a one-man drama. It's a bit bright in certain settings. Can I control the amount of output--make it less bright?
Outside of using DMX and console, the best method we found is using an IR remote. Not all of this type lights come with one, so you may have to buy it separately. Here is a link to one that would work with the PRO H: www.amazon.com/CHAUVET-DJ-IRC-6-Infared-Lighting/dp/B00IGRX9FW?th=1 To adjust brightness hit the "%" button and then use the "+" and "-" buttons to get to your desired brightness. Hope this helps!
I recently purchased the K12.2 for the purpose of playing music from my phone, I have the bluetooth adapter but can I also play this speaker through wi-fi, if so, do I need another adapter?
Very helpful but you didn't explain line B it has HI-Z/ Line settings you only talked about Mic/ Line settings
This is a VERY good review! Very comprehensive. It will surely get a lot of views.
Thank you for all the kindness!
Great video! If using KS118`s for a band, set up on left and right of stage, do you recommend using K12.2’s or K10.2’s on top?
Honestly, they are both good options. You will get a bit frequency range more out of the K12.2. The first thing that comes to mind is budget. If the funds are hard to come by the K10.2 will work just fine.
The failure rate on QSC K2 series is ridiculously high. Yes.... QSC will fix or replace them WHEN they die.... but if you are on a gig when they die that's of very little comfort. QSC should have been more proactive when they discovered this fatal flaw and recalled ALL China made power modules manufactured during that period. It is a relatively simple replacement process.,.. if you can get your hands on the new parts. I no longer consider QSC K2 series speakers a "professional" grade option.... too unreliable.
QSC Released the firmware update for k.2 series and it fixed the problem and all you need to do is make sure your up to date on the boxes and my new K8.2 were factory installed to 1.5.5 version and it’s very reliable
@@TalentLe8159Mine were also up to date on the latest firmware. That is not the problem. A large number of these speakers were made with very cheap Chinese components during the supply chain debacle and instead of recalling thousands of affected units, QSC decided to fix them only after they fail. A huge percentage of them fail, and if you are on a gig when they do you are s.o.l. like I was.
Bro.....I was danger close to returning this thing. I could not figure out anything with it to save my life. I would plug in dual RCA to a mono 1/4 input jack and what I thought was the lowest audible setting it was stupid loud lol. Obviously it needed to be set to line level unbeknownst to me. I am new to all this. I'm a straight analog tube amp and cab guy who bought this thing to play around with a Tonex lol. Needless to say I was completely lost. I came across your video and you literally answered everyone of my questions perfectly. I can't thank you enough. Appreciate you taking the time to break it down for noobs like me 🤣
We're so glad to hear that our video helped you out! It can definitely be a learning curve when diving into new equipment, especially if you're more accustomed to analog setups. We're here to help, so if you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Happy to have you as part of the community!
What is the Gain C dial ?
It's to control the gain for the 1/8th inch aux jack to the left of the knob. Hope that helps!
@@VIPProductionNW thnak you
My QLXD4 isn't botting well, please what can i do? Diplayed on the screen is group 88, channel 88, gain 88 freq 888.8888MHz TV 88, battery 88hr88min, etc.
totally subscribing! You guys covered this product so well. Plus you educated me on how to read product titles better, lingo, and purpose of the thing your talking about! Hooooly cow! You guys really approached this video like the viewer has NO prior knowledge of a lighting unit...and I appreciate that so much :D
Thanks! We try our best to make A/V knowledge accessible.
Hey! Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question. Does sennheiser Ew 100 receiver allow for more than one sennheiser transmitters and still give clear audio? Zaddy72(at)gmail.com
HI, I HAVE A SET OF K-12 QSC SPEAKERS. WHEN I HOOK UP TO A COMPUTER TO PLAY MUSIC I GET MORE BACKGROUND MUSIC AND LITTLE OF THE MAIN SINGER?? HOW DO I MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT TO BALALNCE OUT THE SONG? THANK YOU. GEARS
Thanks for the video. It's useful. How do you have the mixer hanger like that?
How do you connect the Sub to the speaker? … do you just use the line out ?
What is the best setting for the K12.2 tops when used with a pair KS118 subs in a DJ application? Default or Live setting in the top settings?
Question...when adding a sub do you recommend line in first to the sub then slave to the main or line in to the main and slave to the sub. I see it recommend both ways
can you use the Lavalier and the Handheld microphones together? I would like to give the lavalier to the person i am interviewing and want to carry the handheld mic with me to perform.
Great summary
Thank you!
I use my QLXD Body pack to make my mixer wireless
Does the speaker have auto shutoff?
😀 Promo_SM
Thank you
Very helpful tutorial!
Great video. Thank you!
No Problem!
I think your measurements are in Lux or Candela?
...,great explanation, thks...,have been struggling a bit.
Yo didn’t explain the in eq and out eq diference!
Question.... Have not found one damn video on how to set this up.... I have (2) k12.2 and (2) ks118 subs and I run them thru a QSC Touchmix-8. Now I decided to run my Subs Aux out and run my K12.2 main out while cutting the lows to the mains and 80hz to the subs. I'm not even sure if this is the best way to set this up. Any input on this would be great or even direct me to a video to see the best way to set this PA up thanks.
I want these. I use qsc k-10’s with rcf subs for every event. Sounds awesome.
We just released a video on the KS118. Let us know if it answers your questions!
This was a very good instructional video. Thank you.
Yes the y jack to A&B does give me twice the amount of volume
You mean a 3 dB increase?
Sounds crappy plugging a mic directly in without a mixer. Very muffled low end and mids are insanely overdone. No sibilence.
Just wondering I have 2 of these and sometimes one goes out I have to turn off and turn back on any suggestions what it could be and my firmware up to date
You connected in input 1A ..? Isn’t it for mic and gives higher gain on default setting of speaker?
Now that guitar modeling is popular. can you do a video on the setting you recommend for FRFR use of the QSC..
So I don't need a mixer? I can plug my AUX or jack straight into the speaker? And there will be sound?
Hello, I have (2) new KS12.2s and (2) KS2121C and my question is once I select the setting on the KS12.2 to using a sub, I should just leave it to default? Thanks!
I have the exact same setup as you. Did you ever figure this out? What setting worked best for you? Sometimes I feel like I can’t get it loud enough.
I seem to cut out and told turn off
