    The best ride is southbound on 129 from the Dragon. Almost desolate and just as fun.

    Correction: there is 1 road that connects, however it's not frequently traveled. Parsons Branch Rd comes from Cades Cove.

    I rode the dragon tail a couple days ago. I was tempted not to because of the idiots that think they own it. But thankfully they weren't there. It was a blast and a challenge. I am from indiana and we don't have curvy roads. It was well worth the trip! I will for sure return and ride it again. I saw a comment about sport bikes. Cruisers, sport bikes, cars etc. You have those idiots that need to stay off roads like that. But karma will come around and get them

    I haven't been there yet this year. I'm hankering to go and see some other things besides the Dragon. After you've run the Tail a few times you welcome some straight road on the ride home. North Carolina is such a beautiful state. I'm from Kentucky, which is pretty nice also.

    One thing that isn't always mentioned, its not just the curves... there are curvy roads all over the country. Adding to the curves to make this road unique, is that it lacks the intersecting roads and driveways (except for a couple fire roads) which would otherwise disrupt it's continuity. Besides catching slower vehicles, there is not the concern of a pull-out or unexpected hazard of an intersection. People who love that about this road, should look for the "Devil's Triangle". Its fairly remote, with little interference from intersecting roads, and quite challenging.

    I've been and don't care for it. Being from Georgia we have two very popular high curve sections that draw thousands on the weekends. State Road 60 from Blue Ridge to US 19 Dahlonega is over 60 miles long with many more than 300 curves, because there are also short straights and in the middle is Suches, GA for a bit of relaxation and petrol if you need it. The second is just north of 60 on US19 where it intersects with US129 to cross Blood Mountain, and several sections of Mountains before you get to Blairsville. It to is much longer than eleven miles. I could name many more, but most important are Georgia State and Federal highways are much wider than most southern states to avoid what happens on the Dragon's Tail. We also have crack downs by the police, so some things are the same.

    It's a sweet ride for sure, but the Cruisers and Hogs are obnoxious because they refuse to pull over for faster riders. Up until the last 30 years the speed limit was 55, now it's 30:-/

    If you like the dragons tail, come to California and ride Palomar mountain road. Then head south to San diego and ride Telegraph canyon. Finally, if the dragons tail was 60 miles long one way, it would be the Angeles crest highway in SoCal.

    • @98undrtaker
      @98undrtaker Před 9 lety

      Been on both, Angeles Crest is a great road. But the short distance of 9 miles and 300+ curves with a lack of any straight section at all makes the Dragon much more challenging. Driving it at night you are constantly outrunning your headlights because the road is constantly going the opposite way or your making a sharp 180+ degree turn. Angeles crest has them but it doesn't come at you in the same way or intensity. I do want to go back out to California and try it again but with less traffic than last time.

    Into the other lane is stupid in the day time. Unless its carefully planned or closed road, you wouldnt know if something coming or not. Night time is much safer for other lane driving.

    Great video, Finally a video that doesn't Focus on how sportbike riders are all dicks that try to kill everyone.. this is an odd question, But are you asian? Or maybe dark haired? I'm a local here in Tennessee and was riding around one afternoon..Saw a lady filming on a tripod, I kinda got pissed at first, figured it was the new setting out to show how we ride like hell and are dangerous to everyone..
