Registrace 5. 05. 2006
Founded in 2003, Bear Smart Durango addresses the root causes of human-bear conflict: namely, the behavior of people. We believe it is the responsibility of people in bear habitat to coexist with bears - for their own safety, and for the safety of bears. Bear Smart Durango offers real solutions in reducing human-bear conflict.

It's a brown-phased black bear.
Never heard one make that noise... very interesting, he seemed calm...almost like a dog. Good video. :)
I see you're a big hunter. Big deal. Real exciting video. Wow, something almost happened. Lol
Aaaw, so fuzzy 🐻💕
I was just out hiking in dense Forest, a black bear, bigger than this one, came out 20 yards ahead of me and immediately started to make this sound. I was overjoyed because I know predatory bears don't make this "you're too close, get away" display. I was so relieved and he just kept on his way and I waited for a few to make sure he was far enough away before I proceeded again. I've seen BB before, but never happened upon one so close, we did surprise each other so I'm glad it did not turn ugly. He was the largest BB I've seen in person, maybe 400-500 lbs, and I felt like such a little twig standing there with my bear spray. He would've simply crushed me if he so desired, but thank God he was responding like a normal, healthy bear.
the other day I saw a bear and it let out one bark. Sounded exactly like the bark of a large dog. Is that a common sound for bears to make? I thought it was really strange.
Havent heard that one before. Here are some common black bear vocalizations: bearsmartdurango.org/bear-sounds/
Bryan Peterson yeah it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen and heard at the same time.
This bear is stressed.
@@leemagrish3432 - Correct. Shot the video to educate folks, and quickly left and let it be.
I've watched some CZcams videos on sounds bears make and how they communicate with each other - they did include a "bark." Not all videos included the bark, but some did. There is huffing, wuffing (I'm wondering if the huffing and wuffing are the same), barking, pulsing and jaw popping (the jaw one goes by several different names). There may be even more sounds, but that's what I remember. When a bear does a loud pulsing it sounds pretty wicked - you would know you're in serious trouble!
The bear has a GPS collar as part of the CPW Durango Bear Study.
Mate, Joe Robinet, a youtube outdoorsman had an odd experience and a very strange sound, similar to this at a camp in Canada... im not sure if you have seen it, but he gets very worried and we never see what actually makes the sound, could you confirm if its a black bear for the sounds?? i will link the clip. Its quite spooky really.
here is the Link: the sound starts at 42:00 mins and goes for a while... czcams.com/video/iZ1LW4U7tOc/video.html
i bet it was a bear.... round 47:30 you can hear it sounds like this one.
