Anathema does not mean 'cursed to hell'. It means one has committed a grave sin that causes one's excommunication from the Church of the living God and His sacraments. 1 Cor. 11: 29, "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." And what Body is that which we must discern? John 6: 51, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." 'The bread that we must eat, which Jesus will give us- when will it be given to us?- and how?- it is His flesh that He gave for the life of the world on the cross, which is now His glorified body in heaven. Where Jesus, the Lamb of God, is offering His Body as the once for all propitiatory sacrifice for our sins to His Father. When we take communion, Jesus becomes one with us and we become one with Him. As Paul wrote, we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice- always- but especially at the sacrifice of the Mass, when our sacrifice is joined to that of Jesus and offered to the Father as a part of the Body of our Lord and Savior. Also read Ignatius and Justin. Ignatius was taught by John the Apostle who wrote John 6 and he did not explain the Eucharist the way Luther did. In fact, Luther was so accurate in his interpretation of the Eucharist that the vast majority of Protestants disagree with him. That's obviously some good interpretive fruit.

I believe you are correct that we are living in the time when Satan has been let loose for a short while and his final take over or to reset Jesus as King of Kings. Thus the new world order because Jesus has been ruling for the past 1000 years and separating sheep and goats for the final judgment after the resurrection and judged on what you did in your life = either to life or everlasting death. Look you have been lied to about the life span = the scribes simply added a zero. so Adam live to 90 not 900 years. do you think Noah lived for 500 years with no children then all of a sudden had 3 sons just a few years before the flood. No Noah had his sons when he was 50 and lived another 35 years after the flood. They have lied about many things even tampered with the bible God's word. The superior word of God who is Jesus can't be tampered with or changed. so some people make up all sort of things about why they lived longer before the flood when all they did was add a extra number

Being from the Northeast, the ECLA is the dominant Lutheran ‘church’, but they seem anything but Christian. When I think of them, I envision purple haired homosexual women preaching un-Christian doctrines in the name of “love”. In any case, there is no doubt that the ECLA has destroyed the “Lutheran brand” so to speak.

I was raised ELCA and felt like I was constantly being watched and scrutinized by God. I was taught any suffering such as illness or injury was my fault because I sinned. I am still struggling with the idea that we don’t have to try every second to be perfect. I don’t believe this teaching came from our Church, I think it came from my mom who is severely mentally ill. I want to attend an LCMS church but the closest one is 2 hours away.

I always have an automatic distrust of anyone who doesn't proport Sola Scriptura since coming back to the faith. It is exactly the kind of people who attacked Sola Scriptura (specifically in regards to Creationism) who caused me to walk away from the Faith Originally. I suffered so much because of my choices during that dark period. Sola Scriptura was the reason I came to the Lutherans, even many of the Protestants totally deny it these days.

I would say immersion is much more preferable, both from the text and early church history, pouring being the back up mode when immersion isn't possible. As laid out in the Didache. But concerning baptism, thus shall ye baptize. Having first recited all these things, baptize {in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost} in living water. But if thou hast not living water, then baptize in other water; and if thou art not able in cold, then in warm. But if thou hast neither, then pour water on the head thrice in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But before the baptism let him that baptizeth and him that is baptized fast, and any others also who are able; and thou shalt order him that is baptized to fast a day or two before.

My answer is: Jesus Christ is an example and living parable BUT mainly Because in the natural, the world or earth was baptized with water when God came close to ending His creations, but He made a way and Jesus Ministry mirrors that even with the two by two and many other waya. Also, the Raven didn't do its job and roams to and fro, much like we read of Satan doing the same. The Dove brought the olive branch that is used for oil that consecrates and so the circle of ideas is a complete. It's similar to Moses wasn't supposed to strike the Rock because it was pointing to Jesus, in that same vein, Jesus had to be Baptized, and like a babe comes out of the water of the mom, He emerged ready to be given the spirit which was His anointing as Messiah but later He has a special oil anointing as High Priest. Anyhow, Holy Spirit descended upon Him to give back the Spirit of God that was once breathed I to Adam but lost by Adam. Jesus has to and had to fulfill all previous scripture because they are God's Promise and story ABOUT Jesus the Messiah and how we recognize Him. The Holy Spirit is likened unto a Dove, the Bride in Song of Solomon is likened unto a Dove and the motif is in other places of the Bible too. In the End , the world will be Baptized in Fire. Jesus Christ already did the Fiery Furnace turned up 7 times and the reciprocity then goes back to the Earth. It's a common precept that what happens in the natural has a counter occurrence or mirror occurrence in the spiritual, aka supernatural, and vice versa. Also, things tend to repeat for emphasis, as signs of completeness, and to clarify to the connectedness for the curious scholar. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing ...be a long and queen joint heirs in Christ and search it out, reveal it with study and prayer.

Acts 2:38 says that repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is for the remission if sins. Either we take this verse literally or we decide to interpret it to be a figuratively statement meaning other than what it literally says. John the baptist performing the prototype for christian baptism told the people repenting on the banks of the Jordan river to," Bring forth fruit meet for repentance". The word " meet", in the original Greek means," to do want accompanys, repentance . So repentance is incomplete unless demonstrated by water baptism. Water baptism accomplishes two things in the believers life: 1) Remove the guilt from wilful sin, because of the shed bood of Christ, which allows the Holy Spirit to inhabit the believer on a permanent basis . This is what remission of sins is 2) We take on the Bridegroom( Jesus Christ) name by it being called over us during water baptism.

I guess some looked at me with a "whaat?" As a former Charismatic, I've used the sign of the Cross (right to left) for about 20 years. It's a beautiful, powerful gesture that's for all Christians, not only Catholic or Lutheran. I've been researching the beliefs of the Lutheran Church for a minute now and if there was a LCMS Church nearer, I'd probably convert. So far, these pastors have made more sense than the ones I've known in Pentecostal and Charismatic circles in explaining the Bible. Pastor Wolfmueller's explanations have brought understanding in some things that weren't addressed, let alone explained. Thank you Sir .

I think there is a simpler answer. James says plainly we are nOt justified by faith alone. We are to daily work out our salvation with fear and trembling. That means daily repentance, daily prayer, daily works of mercy and regular attendance at the Eucharist. The paradox is that on any given day I can have full confidence in Christ and on any given day I can wander from Christ and lose that assurance.

The apostle Paul admonishes that things ought to be done decently and in order. He actually endorsed and listed various spiritual gifts. I'm not charismatic myself but have witnessed deliverence (demonic) tongues and healing among people I trust. I find no evidence that these gifts would cease. The problem is there misuse or overemphasis. I've had people tell me I must speak in tongues as a sign that I"m saved. I tend to ignore them. I also ignore people who say these gifts have ceased. God is moving in these end times and I believe we're going to see a lot more or the miraculous. We're told in scripture that the end times would see a form of godliness but denying it's power.

At around the 23 minute mark you say how Paul would have known about women priestesses. He did, not only from other religions but from his own. He praises Junia and calls her an apostle. Modern day scholarship also believes that those two verses you cited are forgeries and it doesn’t align with Paul’s authentic writings. So why don’t you stop using them as proof text for misogyny? Why do you have to treat women as if they’re beneath you?

The reality in my opinion is that how art affects you will depend on who you are already. Everyone is influenced by art in general but only young people or weak minded people or fragile minded people are easily manipulated by art to extreme points. Movies are fictional horror movies are not going to possess you. You are not going to go insane from watching scary movies unless you are already mentally unstable to begin with.

First of all in order to understand Revelation chapter 20 we must come into the understanding that the phrase a thousand years is not literal. And the second thing that we must understand is that this entire book of Revelation has nothing to do with the entire world this book is the judgment of God against the inhabited land of Jerusalem the time of Jacob's troubles and also God's judgment against the Roman Empire for killing the Jew and Gentile Christians in Asia Minor those that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus. The word Earth in this book in the Greek is the word Ge or ghay which means the inhabited region or country which is Jerusalem and the Roman Empire and the word World is the Greek word Aeon or Age which means the Jewish Messianic Age and this same word depending on the context of scriptures is the Greek word Oikoumene which means the inhabited land which is Jerusalem and the Roman Empire this is very important to understand when interpreting the book of Revelation most preachers apply this book of judgments to the entire world believing in a 7 year tribulation period but this way of believing is a fallacy to the very root of this type of teaching. The tribulation period for Israel has already been fulfilled but first let me explain the phrase a thousand years like I said it is not literal in the Greek a thousand years is the Greek word Affinity: which means a relationship or marriage or alliance Those that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus were married to the bridegroom in Revelation chapter 19 in the marriage supper of the Lamb. Affinity ! 2. In the Bible, affinity refers to a relationship by marriage or alliance. It is used three times in the King James Bible, in 1 Kings 3:1, 2 Chronicles 18:1, and Ezra 9:14. In Hebrew, affinity is "chathan", which means "in-law". 1 .The phrase a thousand years is the Greek word " khil'-ee-oy means uncertain Affinity Revelation 20:4/Reign with Christ a thousand years/ Affinity in the Greek 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 1 Kings 3:1/Affinity/ Alliance 3 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. 2nd Chronicles 18:1/Alliance /A thousand years! 18 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab. Ezra 9:14 / Affinity / Unholy Alliance! 14 Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? Strong's g5507 - Lexical: χίλιοι - Transliteration: chilioi - Part of Speech: Adjective - Phonetic Spelling: khil'-ee-oy - Definition: a thousand. - Origin: Plural of uncertain affinity; a thousand. - Usage: thousand. - Translated as (count): a thousand (4), thousand (4), one thousand (2), for a thousand (1). In the scriptures also the phrase a thousand denotes fighting the good fight of faith and to reap a hundred fold this gives eternal life Mark 10:30 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Those that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus have already been married to the bridegroom this is not in the future and upon death those that are born again of the spirit of God are married unto the lord because we are changed to be just like him in a moment in the twinkling of an eye most preachers teach that the body is still in the grave until the end of history but we are changed at the moment of death Amen 🙏

I am currently a member of the Lutheran church. I believe that baptism is a gift just like salvation but not necessary for salvation, as at the end of the day, Christ dying on the cross is the only act that secured us salvation. Nothing we do gets us into heaven, including baptism or good works. The main issue I have with the Lutheran perspective (as told by other members) is that even though there are plenty of people who were baptized but now live in denial of Christ through their actions every day, are still considered “saved” simply because they’ve been baptized. That sounds like making excuses for people simply because you care about them. My two cents.

  • @theflightyfairy4811

So glad you made this even though I’m six years late to watching it. A year ago, I read Wayne Grudem’s systematic theology, and in it I think that’s where he argues against the fact that Jesus defended into hell (using passages like “it is finished” and “today you will be with me in paradise”). And at the end he concludes that we should just take that line out of the creed entirely because it isn’t biblically accurate. I was fully convinced. Then about nine months ago when I started down the Lutheran path, I realized the mistake and that YOU CAN’T JUST CHANGE THE CREED. So I kind of believed it by faith but without any reasons until this video. Thank you so much.

The grape juice concern at the Eucharist is something I have read about in, "a summary of christian doctrine". Several of us men, including our pastor, discussed how God does not give us an alcohol content for the wine. If grape juice is open to the atmosphere for any period of time it has slightly fermented. Absolutely use fermented wine if possible. As far as alcohol sensitivity, how can something that is blessed, with the authority of God, be bad for you? Paul writes about both the spiritual and physical benefits of receiving God's blessings through communion. But, please read your Bible, find a congregation that is word alone, pray, and follow God's will in your life.

I've always been in favor of real wine being used for Communion but there are some who have liver disease and even a very small amount of alcohol is devastating to the recovery of the liver. I don't know why it has to be a "either or" situation, why not have wine for them that can tolerate it , and grape juice for people with medical conditions that prevent them from partaking because of the alcohol in the wine. For goodness sakes, it's 2024, and there needs to be more understanding in this problem. Unless one has walked a mile in another's moccasins he cannot judge.

But you are not even speaking the truth as an LCMS pastor.

As an ELCA Lutheran, I am appalled by your condemnation of the ELCA's declarations. It is the LCMS that must repent! For example since men and women are imperfect, the Bible cannot be inerrant because men wrote down the Bible. Next Paul reflected the condescending attitude toward women at the time.

I still do not understand this doctrine of the real presence. It still sounds like transubstantiation, just without the "how" and several listed benefits. I'm going to have to hold to the Zwingli view for now.
