I'm so happy to see the prices lowering - I still can't believe they were ever $200+. Wow you had a lot of plants!! 100 or 150 I feel is such a good sweet spot! I feel like you're able to manage and not be as stressed, but still have plants everywhere and get a jungle feel 😊 that's awesome

For sure! Your geographical location makes a huge difference in price and availability, as well as shipping and importing. This specific garden center is known to have pricier plants but it's also a nursery so they most likely paid a good amount just with wholesale. Obviously I can't confirm that haha, but that's what we see when these businesses have to bring them in and mark them up to make their own profits. Gotta love retail! I will say though, most plants in the US have come way down in price. Plants I paid $100-200+ in my collection are now under $100, some even $15! The plant market definitely had its moment but now it seems to have chilled out thankfully. Luckily there are affordable options and sellers if someone doesn't want to pay nursery prices!

Regular non-variegated billietiaes have popped up in big box stores, so they're decently cheap! I haven't looked lately but definitely $20 or less for a medium size plant if I had to guess. If they're more, it's probably a larger specimen. Crazy to think they were ever more than that!

In the monstera albo? Not that I've seen! But with a large collection I wouldn't be surprised if there are soil mites or small fungas gnats. Any pests in general tbh. All about managing them! Pon is great, I have yet to try it out! I hear good things about it from others and I can imagine the albo loves it!

That's smart to put slow growing plants on a shelf like that. I don't have many super slow growing plants but I tend to get smaller ones for those kind of shelves! They always outgrow it though. Cacti have been intruiging me lately so that may have to be an option 👀

So far it's been growing a lot!! But the new growth is skinny and kind of wonky. I have to figure out how to make it more uniform growth like the rest of it! I think it's etiolated a bit.

I haven't heard if they are MORE toxic, but they are toxic! Yeah many plants are, but no luckily my oldest cat Rory doesn't care about plants at all and the young cat Willow has grown out of her phase of eating everything! She will sometimes go to nibble a plant but usually it's hoyas which are non-toxic thankfully. She likes to play with hoyas leaves and vines.

$80 is definitely still cheaper than how much they used to be for sure :) Yeah I lucked out! But it's a big box store so at this point many states are getting the same shipment. Now it's end of July and walmarts are still getting them!

I’ve done that with a bamboo stick, but I find that it’s unstable! Especially once the plant grows and sizes up on the pole it then isn’t supportive. I choose to put it inside the pot to anchor it in.

Unfortunately I didn't get to grow seeds this year 😥 I was gone every weekend from beginning of May until second week of July. I would have lost them so I saved my seeds for next year. I think I'm going to grow them outdoors just because I don't think I'll have good enough conditions inside year round. I did however get herb starter plants that I've been growing outside on the patio! I've even harvested some :) I made a video that will be coming soon showing off my small herb garden.

Honestly I get overwhelmed too. Mainly because I also try to take on a million other non-planty things too. But I also love living in a jungle and don’t know if I’d have it any other way. I’m sure someday I’ll cut down more as life goes on!

Which one? The variegated one or green one? They’ve both been in south windows , I feel like light isn’t an issue 🤔 but maybe! I’ve never had any of them grow much except when outside for the summer. Cacti aren’t my strong suit.

I have about 600 of them 😅 The problem is that if they grow in the winter, they etiolate, no matter what window you put them in, unless you're located somewhere pretty close to the equator. Light intensity and day length are too short for them to achieve healthy growth during this time. To stop them from going all lanky, ugly and nippely (which is irreversible), they need a cool spot between 30-60 degrees F from November till Feb/March and ABSOLUTELY NOT A DROP OF WATER. They don`t even need much light during this time - I keep mine in a dingy basement. They don't mind this, as long as the rootball is bone dry (if it isn`t you'll get root rot). Other types of succulents like echeverias, and euphorbias, however, do need light. Euphorbias need it a little warmer, too. @@PlantedPersonalities
