The writers of this song gained permission from the makers of The 1939 movie 'The Wizard of Oz' in America to use the words 'Bluebird' in recording this song. There are actually no Bluebirds in England. however because they featured in the song 'Wizard of oz' song 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' & created such a feel good/ safe/warm atmosphere, the writers of this song decided to include reference to them in this song, hoping to create the same feelings. Thankfully for the writers of this song, Vera Lynn & many others (incl me) The Movie studio in America gave their o.k.. My opinion in listening to this song , is that, I get the same feel good feeling as Dorothy did in the movie, so all worked out well. This song really breaks me up--I'm 67 so I missed the War. But my dad was a sergeant in the US Army infantry and fought in combat in Italy and France. Many of his friends didn't come home--the losses sustained in The War can never be understood or forgotten. Think of all the airmen who watched the White Cliffs of Dover on their way to Germany and never came home again.

What a song. My mom and dad lived through these times. When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again was their big song. This even brings tears to my eyes, can you imagine how it affected them!

This semester of college I have been through absolute HELL. From assignments with no end to personal and family emergencies ever numerous, I haven't had much time to catch my breath. One thing that's getting me through has been this song. Just as Vera Lynn's lyrics have reminded the people of Britain that the thunder of war would soon end; I am reminded that my troubles for this semester are almost at their end. Thank you Mrs. Lynn for bringing peace and encouragement to millions with your music both in war and peace!
