Porsche was quite prominent in this. Not only did you see the #4 Porsche 804 of Dan Gurney and the #2 Porsche 718 of Jo Bonnier, but the Prince Rainier and Princess Grace drove around the track in what looks like a 356B T6 Super Cabriolet. Fantastic!!!

I've always preferred original footage, as introducing new data to the existing video might produce artifacts or errors. That said, this looks very nice, upscaling tools are getting better and I can see how footage like this can entice younger people to get interested in old things, it does look very lifelike and unless you're pixel-peeping it's difficult to see the artifacts. Nice job overall, would be nice to have a link to the OG footage but I'm imagining that would bring DMCA issues.

Amazing remaster of the video. What I don't understand is why you would go to all this trouble, and presumably expense, to remaster the video and then pretty much ruin the experience with an awful, error strewn voice-over by Burl Ives, who sounds like he is voicing a cake-baking competition. Not an ounce of excitement throughout the entire piece! Graham Hill driving for Ferrari - really!

greatest race and racecourse

I was there the Saturday before the race week in 2006. The track was being worked on already but still regular activity with a dozen or so sports cars and luxury vehicles parked at the Casino. Then a new Ford GT with the Gulf livery drove past us as we were walking towards the hairpin. This video just brought back those memories. Thank you!

1962 Monaco GP > 2024 Monaco GP.

Is that Burl Ives narrating? He made the Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer movie about this time. What a difference six decades make. Monaco was so beautiful before all the high rises. Looks like we can see the very first ones going up. And the harbor is nearly empty! The cars might be slower, but the near total absence of safety barriers is terrifying. How about a swim in the harbor? Fancy wrapping your aluminum foil cigar car around a tree? I don’t know how the drivers managed to squeeze into their tiny cockpit with those massive brass balls.

The drone footage at the end almost made me cry. Beautiful video. Thank you!

❤F1 should bring back such inspired models with perhaps 3L engines not 1.5L or remove that GP from calendar. Amazing helo views, not as overcrowded than now, intimate, people along the track...Grand Prix (1966) or the pre-GoPro Endless Summer (1966) are gems.

It's incredible how many ways to die there were along the track: trees, street lamps, sidewalks, fences, stairs, that perpendicular wall at 1:24 and people all around!! Those guys were crazy and brave

This is the Monaco and the Grand Prix, I experienced as a child, a world long gone. Nowadays Monaco is a ridiculous tiny Hong-Kong. This is a dream video.

Sharp indeed! The course was better back then, there was a good chance one of those little death traps would go for a dip in the Med. The cars today are certainly much safer but IMHO they are too big. For a great onsite into F1 in the 60s see the great film, Grand Prix. The included documentaries on the violence of F1 back then are also worth seeing.

Hearing the sound of the convertible grey car 1:00 - 2:25 not to mention the racing cars I'm wondering why they don't sound like that anymore?! I am not a professional mechanic or driver just an enthusiast who loves driving and use to love watching Formula 1 in the time of Ayrton Senna. Maybe I'm mistakenly judging the current F1 and didn't yet learned to appreciate it for what it is, but it's just that sound of the old engines that I always love hearing.
