Car 23, the ancestor of Seaton Tramway, is 75 years old this year.
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed měsícem
Car 23 was the first ever tram built by our founder Claude Lane, and it operated in public for the first time exactly 75 years ago, on 2nd July 1949 at the Hadley House fete in Barnet. Its success ultimately led to the establishment of Seaton Tramway, and although it was sold by Claude Lane in 1959, it has survived in private preservation ever since. Here we celebrate this little pioneer, witho...

In 2024, Seaton Tramway's Car 14 turns 120 years old, and we also celebrate 40 years since it was launched into service at Seaton in 1984. It was built in 1904 as Car 94, one of the Type A cars of Metropolitan Electric Tramways and ran on routes across North London until its withdrawal in 1935. In 1962 its body was discovered in use as a shed at Waltham Cross by a number of volunteers connected...

Looks good day.
Such a shame in a way, I loved the trams and Eastbourne wasn`t the same without them.
The things I find interesting are :- 4.30 Car 6 had to take trolley off wire' to allow a boat car to enter terminus. 6.05 2 tracks at old terminus (back of depot). 3.43 car 6 no destination boxes.2.55 car 238 running trolley leading followed by a boat. 38.37 Car 02 on track to works,
Fond memories of visted Eastbourne and riding the trams. For😊 instance, I remember my late grandmother getting stuck trying to get out of the lower deck of tram number 7. Happy days😊 Still look forward to riding the trams at Seaton. Whenever I am in the area. Also following you on CZcams .😊
Living nearby in Brighton at that time I remember it well. Moving to Seaton and gaining their own "Right of Way" was the best thing Claude ever did. Sadly he didn't live long enough to see how the hard work of his followers has proved to be such a success. Seaton Council are to be praised for their support. Eastbourne Council LOL , enough said about them. As a young rail modeler in 1962 I came home from the tramway and immediately built a model of the green number 6. I send my best wishes to all the team at Seaton Tramway and I'm watching the Webcams every day. JNS ,Rugby, Warks.
Well done
I was surprised that it was not mentioned that this tram was brought down from Ian R Cormack in Scotland by Brian Martin to the Liverpool area, who as we know, was an ex editor of the TLRS magazine Tramfare.
I didn't know about Brian Martin's role specifically; I've always understood that it was the MTPS group that organised it. Thanks for the info 👍
Very nice tribute to Claude Lane. What was the open top tram at 2.23 at Colyton, is it a rebuild of another?
That’s Car 12, which was rebuilt again in 1999 to loosely resemble a London Feltham car.
Many years ago as a young boy I had a ride on the Eastbourne trams, then in more recent years I got to enjoy a trip on the Seaton tramway - I never connected the two.
Good song to go with the video. 😊
Hey Up! ...there is PLENTY of places to pop some More of that track... Hadfield to Woodhead tunnel, - maybe even Through the tunnel... ...other lines are possible in that area but might require a rack and pinion design...
We were there last Sunday with our two black n white terriers. We live in the new forest but we were staying in bridport. We totally enjoyed the day!
What a ride!
Lovely tram - am I right in thinking that if I want to ride the single deckers I need to visit on a really wet day?
No chat, I wish you all the best
I've been watching the Riverside Railcam for awhile now. Nice to see the route here. Cheerz from Ottawa, Canada
Thanks for watching!
What camera were you using for that ...Not good for a Company is it ...
Thank you!!
West coast USA here - Nice to see what the landscape looks like at morning/mid-day. I normally only get to see it from about 15:00 on.
Tram Nr 10 ist super, das Video ist total verwackelt.
Shame video quality is poor
Please note, as described: this was recorded live via facebook Live.

Does it ever get flooded there?
Valentines Day 2014!

....that man needs one of those gimbal-jobbies for mobile phone!
Shame video quality not great
Agreed ruined by poor video control and management.
Please note, as described: this was recorded live via facebook Live.
who needs the chat now that "trip" has saved me asking a few questions on the chat, this page link should be on the "railcam live" websites pages
Didn’t know a tramway had a dinosaur show! Full of surprises
I dont remember them in Rhyl…
How do you slow down and stop? And what is the wheel for that a lot of Blackpool trams have that the drivers never seem to use?
40:15 If they are lead-acid cells they would be 2.1 volts per cell, so there are probably 60 cells which gives 126 volts, and on charge I have seen that system run to 130 volts ! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Definition: "Stupidity", "LOCK DOWN"!!!
❤
What time is it there now
How many do 1 tram services
When I went on the Seaton tramway in September 2023 this year I did notice the new overhead poles and catenary at the level crossing
Alternating Current changes direction in your case 50 times each second. Direct as a fixed positive an$ negative.
❤p
Lovely video on a beautiful day, absolutlely love the trams! Pity we couldn't hear what Gareth was saying, but Josh came over loud and clear, so that was great!
Nice how the cars beeped you in return at colyford crossing
i went on the seaton tramway last week and was on car 15
