Hi Anvil! Just reaching out to see if this would be an exact colour match with the PVD 3" Euro Profile Sash Lock and Polished Brass 4" Ball Bearing Butt Hinge (pair) ss?

Brilliant and so neat! I’m changing a handle and I have a hole bigger than a 50p piece boshed out by a previous carpenter - no care taken at all. So I am not sure I have enough door left to drill the male/female bolt onto!

My through hole came out the other side in the wrong position. Tried to drill as straight as possible

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED SOME SANDLEFORD LEVER ON ROSE DOOR HANDLES.However when i unpacked them there were no fitting instruction that were supposed to be supplied. The rose covers were already attatched covering any screw holes I have tried to remove the covers without succes.Any ideas???

Do you have anything for the jamb side locking Suffolk thumb latches, Bean or Ball & Spear? How about Jamb piltle or jamb T-hinges (1 inch narrow ). Not all the doors are flushed to the trim. I am creating an old New England style entrance, with an outswing, secondary colonial wooden panel door for the main entrance. Only Acorn Manufacturing USA has jamb-locking thumb latch, but they are machine made, and the thumb grip is too long. I love your hand-forged look and size variety in UK. I wish someone makes the good looking design with a custome size with the pewter finish.

TBH I've seen ledged doors hung this way very often in old houses, rather than hinges on the ledges. The ledges do need to be cut back to stop binding on architraves (if there are any). Better hinged on ledges (more wood to screw to for a start if you only have thin planks) but many old frames only allow for the planks to enter the rebate so you may be forced to hinge on the planks as per this vid. Unless you fancy cutting back the rebates or replacing the frame (May not be allowed in a listed building!) or mounting blocks on the frame to "space out " the hinge.

That four inch hinge is far to wide for that door, you should have used three inch hinges instead.

Thank you! Mostly very informative..until the very last comment when drawing a pencil line on the wood door frame for "routing." This part seems really important..but we don't see it accomplished..or what it looks like. So, that essential step is difficult for (me)..a novice or carpenter challenged person to understand fully. Nicely done..otherwise!

Your ledges will bind on the architrave as the door is fully opened.Better to fix the hinges to the ledges.
