Little America Steve Hackett from Guitar Noir 1993(with lyrics)

Little America is a brilliant sound picture of aspects of the celebrity "culture" that is so much a part and parcel of life in little America.
Steve Hackett' s Dreaming With Eyes Wide Open(with lyrics)

From Steve's 1999 album Darktown - Dreaming With Open Eyes is one of Steve's travel songs. The rhythm of windscreen wipers sets a hypnotic dreamy pace for a dreamscape set to music. One my favourites Hackett songs.

Sentimental Institution by Steve Hackett from his 1980 album Defector - Peter Hicks, vocals. Always a Big Band fan, I love the way Steve brings you right back to the 1930s with this song. Also, Peter Hicks does a wonderful job with the vocals.

Some of the illustration are by Kim Poor, Steve's wife, who did many of his album covers. Steve says: "I think everyone gets the feeling at some point that it's time to move on from whatever situation. It might be a fledgling leaving the nest. It might be leaving home. It could be a person, place or country. It's not specific. It's just a feeling."
Post WWII Blues

Al Stewart's Post World War Two Blues from his 1974 album Past, Present and Future. Clips from news stories of the times after the war - Churchill and Mountbatten arguing about Mountbatten's negotiating India's independence - the Profumo Scandal(w. Christine Keeler) bringing down Harold Macmillan's government and subsequent events, characters and troubles encountered by the post World War Two b...

As a 25-year-old U.S. Air Mail pilot, Lindbergh emerged suddenly from virtual obscurity to instantaneous world fame as the result of his solo non-stop flight on May 20 21, 1927, made from Roosevelt Field in Garden City on New York's Long Island to Le Bourget Field in Paris, France, a distance of nearly 3,600 statute miles (5,800 km), in the single-seat, single-engine Spirit of St. Louis. As a r...

From Al Stewart 1974 album Past, Present and Future. Loved this song the first time I heard it back in the mid 70s. The lyrics and music paint such a powerfully picture of one growing old and looking back at his/her life.

A strange track (partly dreamt) influenced by the book 'The Diary Of Anne Frank'...I remembered being told that children made the best spies in World War Two...What if a child had been responsible for her family's discovery? The song follows an imaginary character's development from child, to spy and to monster - a story of opportunism at its worse...Steve Hackett

from Al Stewart's 1976 album Year Of The Cat. Always one of my favourite cuts from the album. Great imagery!
Taking off in tiger moths your wings against the brushstrokes of the day .... wow !
Well, done, thank you, sir!
Never knew there was an actual Amy Johnson !
Well done montage!
“Call me if you ever need repairs…” what a beautiful caring lyric.
vanished aviatrix as erotic touchstone.
I *love* it! :-)
hermosa canción
No one can paint a song in words like Al Stewart. One of his best, for sure. Thanks for uploading this glorious song.
One of the most delightful songs from an outstanding, timeless album. Great images to match too .
Aupa al el ke es bueno es bueno sin mas
Great!!
Wonderful montage. Timeless song. Thanks
I love it when he does uptempo songs. Al Stewart is a legend 🎸❤
Thank you so much for adding beautiful imagery to this beautiful song about this most amazing person! Amy Johnson was one way before her time and her courage was incredible. Bless her memory.
great job !
fantastic !
Al Stewart's lyrics did so much more than pay lip service to a time or place; he had the power to TAKE you there. Thank you so much for posting!
Iconic song from one of the most gifted songwriters ever....Al Stewart Love the collage of vintage aviation fotos. Miss Johnson's face shows her passion for flying, it's captured her heart. Thank you for your artistry
great
Such an uplifting song
And yet another forgotten gem. Great song - This guy had lots of goodies
As a future aviationist this song is very insparational
oh yea ?
Thanks for posting this beautiful video. It's probably my favourite Al Stewart song, and you've really done it justice.
A lovely, really lovely piece from Steve, on one of my top favourite albums by him. Steve amazes me with his way to play and record the classical guitar... He makes his guitar sing, in such a delicate way. and this melody is simple but so beautiful. The way he makes each note sing is marvelous.
0:59 "Posen Bahnsteig 1"; these bastards! :D
So perfect.
ainit tho
@@hobbygamer6220 Oh really. Reason? You sound like a hater.
@@greggmercer624 I'm just agreeing with you 🙁
@@greggmercer624 I am a hater ! I hate people who leave people living outside because they no money (License To Steal interchange lawyers with realtors), scumbags/pimps who use scare tactics, "money", many other things
Sentimental Institution was actually written by Pete Hicks, the vocalist with the Steve Hackett Band at that time.
Such a beautiful Solo!!
Well done! Best I've seen on youtube at matching words with images.
This montage is perfection! My mother, blind in one eye, learned to fly when she was about 40. Lifelong dream. She actually had a jacket with a grease stain & a tear. Only a pilot could have written this song. This was my song for her in those days . . . I miss her! 🛬
What beautiful memories x
"Leave the oil drums behind you they won't care".
😊😊
Simply beautiful!!!
Brilliantly done, matching the words to the photos of those times. I'm so glad someone did that for this song, because it's a good one, and you did it great justice here, Gerry. Many thanks!
in my former timeline it was spelt Defektor
One of the best compilations of stills I have seen on CZcams. Very clever and relevant. A favourite song of mine for the insightful and, for me, nostalgic lyrics and now a great video to compliment it.
Brutaly underrated, but one of the best musician.
Thank you so much! I love the song, and I love how you’ve portrayed it! Thanks again :D
Great video for a wonderful song...the hanger at 55 seconds looks like the old Flushing Airport? If so , l'm living real close! Thank you very much.
@Gerry Piche >>> *_THANK YOU_** FOR POSTING THIS!!!!*
great video.. catches the mood..
Being a Buddy Holly fan I always loved how Al paid tribute to Buddy when he sings the line "the day that Buddy Holly died" there is a different sound... a Buddy Holly type sound... for just that one line.
Really beautiful images, this video is a feast for eyes and ears!
This is just"AWESOME" going back in my 1970s....What a song and what a singer. THANK YOU for such a beautiful share.
Beautiful word poetry backed by lively musical accompaniment. This is something totally missing from today's "music".
As a female Biggles fan and massively into planes, this was always a song for me and I enjoyed your interpretation.
Question = What is a Biggle?
yes. please 🤔
I've flown Tiger Moths and studied aviation history all my sentient days. This song captures the delight I still feel after all the years - thanks, Al.
Never had the pleasure of flying in an open cockpit...has to be marvelous!
Steve was a handsome sod in 1980. Must have pulled some birds back in the day.
A pre runner to Billy Joel s "We didnt start the fire"
Well done. Thanks!
Only Lord Jesus can safe us. He said "I am the Light, the Truth and the (everlasting) Life."
That's not strictly true, what he actually said was 'sod all this, let's listen to some Steve Hackett.'
