The PT Cruiser was a cool retro styling, they are small but feel big inside, and the rear seating flexibility is awesome. The real beef is they get relatively poor gas mileage and are slow as well. I don't get why, maybe their aerodynamics are that bad, as the neon is much better, or the engine/trans efficiency is lacking, but other makes do much better, a ford focus for example, or honda fit.

I'm here in 2024 with MY 2007 PT Convertible. 178K mi. Cool Vanilla. Black top. Popping that top almost every NIGHT after work with it 80 degrees outside and cruising 45min back home from work is a Top Shelf pleasure that's hard to match. Still grinding. Later.

I love the seating position on them is like a mini mini van lol, trans issues are either tipm or the trans solenoid or the sensors, tipm is $300 and you can buy the solenoid pack w sensor for about $190 brand new, i had a mecanic do my timing belt w water pump + cam and crank seals for $550 out the door w parts, and car runs like a charm, you not going to win races you not going to win car shows or pick up a bunch of girls, but they are reliable and not have tons of engine issues like a focus or Kia, they are cheap to buy, cheap to mantain and a simple car to go to work and even on road trips once you get out the little issues out the door, i loveine and will keep till the wheels fall off

I grew up a chevy guy & honestly have no love for all their new stuff. As an adult raising a family I have owned 3 Chrysler products & have been served well. We bought a used 2002 Grand Caravan & got many good years of service from it until we had a kick panel behind the sliding door that kept rusting even after having it repaired once. We traded that in on a year old 2013 Journey which we had for 8 years & all we had to do to it was replace a master cylinder. It was determined totaled after an accident because of the value vs cost to repair by the insurance although it was purchased & repaired by someone & still driven today. We also bought a year old 2017 Grand Caravan which i still daily drive & have had no problems with. I always heard bad things about Chrysler & I was worried before. I bought Chrysler because they always had the best bang for your buck in the used car market. I take good care of my vehicles & my Chryslers have always taken good care of me. I buy used from a Chrysler dealer so I know it has been gone over & is ready to go. Do not be afraid of Chryslers just be smart about what you buy & be good to it, they are good vehicles. Now I want a PT cruiser, Thanks!!

Bought my wife a blue 03 pt gt, thing rips. Put a 5000 watt stero in it with a 12" sundown x3 in it and sounds amazing. Changed out all 4 stock speakers for 6.5 hexicone pros. Had to make my own adapters for the back, and it looks and sounds awesome. After market wheels and 140k on it and 300k on my dodge ram 1500. I do all my own maintenance. Not a dodge guy but will say good and bad vehicles with every manufacturer. Have to maintain anything you drive. PS great imitation. Spot on.

I am a subscriber to Scotty's channel, and I like him 'cause he is funny and does know a lot. 😂 But you are correct about the PTs. My wife has a 2008 that looks beautiful and is still going strong (thanks to me). I did upgrade the front coil springs due to that issue. These cars also LOVE simple cheap upgrades. I added some horses just from upgrading the spark plugs, air filter, and seafoaming the oil and gas. Keep 'em clean and they will love you back.

Thank you for your honest review, I always had the impression that Chrysler had a bad reputation on there vehicles but I started seeing reviews on CZcams that some of the Chrysler Vans and Cars can reach up to 300k and more if taken care of on the maintenance. so now my impression on Chrysler has changed since then. Overall Chrysler did made reliable vehicles.

Good concept terrible execution my buddy had a PT cruiser as a teen and my God, the problems that it had were endless oil light kept coming on high speed and low speed fan burnt out, lots of overheating and boiling over constant engine troubles, but when we tried to kill the thing by pouring sand down the oil fill it wouldn’t die, but it tried to kill it so many times we drove that thing straight with no oil pressure on the highway and it still ran like a champ to actually have one running though is nearly impossible. He spent over $5000 in that car in repairs alone and he did get the car for free from a family member who didn’t really drive much. The plastic was terrible. The electrical problems were insane. They are just not good cars, sorry to say there are great concept though trust me I do like the concept

I know this is an older video but I wanted to thank you for making a video that celebrates the PT Cruiser instead of talking crap about it. I have a 2001 PT Cruiser with 25,743 miles on it. I'm the original owner (my late husband knew I wanted one and bought it for me on Valentine's Day 2001) and it's had a few issues over the last 23 years, but probably MOST cars will have some sort of issues eventually. It's was well-maintained inside and out and looks practically brand new, except for some faded paint on the hatchback. I have people constantly telling me I should trade it in, get rid of it and buy a newer Toyota, but my instincts keep telling me to maybe just get this car painted, get someone to install custom bumpers on it (I do dislike the plastic bumpers that should be black but fade to whitish gray). Anyway, I love "Betty" (she's the Betty to my other car, Veronica, a 2016 Corvette Stingray) and the thought of trading her in is truly upsetting to me. This car is so much fun and an homage to the cars of yesteryear!

I love your video. I had a 2002 that had almost 300k before I sold it to some of my friends because I needed a bigger vehicle. My Mom purchased a 2004 because she loved mine. It currently has over 260k miles. Still love the vehicle. My mom recently purchased a 2006 PT GT (Turbo) that was setup to tow behind an RV for an RV tow vehicle themselves. Yeah, you can get them cheep. Yeah, you may need to put some sweet equity into them because taking them to a mechanic is expensive just like any other vehicle. The replacement parts are inexpensive and the vehicle lasts a long time. Yes, take care of the ground issues by cleaning the grounds every few years. Not a big issues if you know about that. The biggest issue I have with the PT is the battery being a 26R which is mainly a very cheep battery with that they won’t make a quality version of the battery. Everything else had mainly been normal maintenance issues I have seen on any other vehicle.

I have a 2005 PT GT Convertible that I did the stage 3 + mods on it, with a nice set of Adjustable coilovers. I’ve done a bit to it. BIG turbo (75 mm with external wastegate and BOV, injectors, etc. Dyno’d at 475 hp. I absolutely love the car, BECAUSE it’s so hated! I really love catching coyote mustangs, c6 and c7 vettes and some SS Camaros unaware…. It is a pain in the backside to do the timing belt and the center motor mount, but eh, not that big of a deal. I like these cars so much, that I went and bought two more!

I own a 2006 PT Convertible Turbo with only 32K miles on it. The problem with the PT TIPM is that they deviated from the industry norms in this design and decided NOT to allow for the individual replacement of relays that commonly fail in all other vehicles, e.g. the headlight relay or heater blower relay, and so on. This is indeed a faux pas. I am an EE (retired from Northrop) and I too believe this to be asinine. In the vast number of vehicles it is commonplace to swap relays when one has a problem in some functionality as with the headlights. Most manufacturers use a "common type" of relay that can be interchanged with others in the fuse compartment allowing some troubleshooting by swapping. In the case of the bad, or intermittent headlight relay a person could usually swap it out with the Horn relay, or other relay that is the same type and has a minimal impact on the vehicle. One cannot do this on the PT! You need to buy a rebuilt TIPM from a rebuilder and they are indeed a HIGH dollar item! Not good for the DIY'er or backyard mechanic. Oh, and that's the best impression of Scotty that I've ever heard... I don't watch a lot of his videos because he goes "outside his lane" too much. He sometimes gets into technology that he himself clearly doesn't understand but he attempts to convey his ignorance to others equally ignorant, his viewers.

so i have an 06 PT. The grounding thing, so what do i do about that nut you showed? Just replace the bolt and problem fixed? The car is running so i told my mom she should take it out the other day because it had more gas than her car and she later told me it wouldn't start for her. Later, i went out and tried it and it wouldn't start. It has a newer battery and an alternator that isnt that old so i was confused. I went under the hood and checked the cables, made sure there wasnt a connection issue and tried moving them around, went back in tried starting it and it fired up. so maybe its what you're talking about. Tell me. i agree btw, i like my PT, its served me well. its funny, i had a friend with me one time and he was complaining i wasn't going fast enough and i told him Its a PT CRUISER, not a PT RACER, its in the name.

I daily a 2006 base model with 80,000 miles. It's been a great little car honestly. I've fixed control arm bushings, radiator fan, thermostat, motor mounts, and changed all fluids. It's not the comfiest car, the base cloth seats kind of suck, but it gets the job done for me. Always starts, even in cold Chicago winters. I haven't done the timing belt yet, my mechanic said most likely the water pump would start leaking first.

11/20/23 I still own and drive my red 2002 Limited PT Cruiser 5 speed in 2023 with 68,000 miles, I bought it cause of its retro looks, but it does have it issues I replaced the belt , water pump, computer brain with only about 55,000 total cost of repairs was just under $2000, struts, ball joints, bearings, exhaust system, car starting key lock another $1500 to fix. If you figure it over the 22 years i still own it on cost no worse than any other car out there, but with premature parts replacement it was quite expensive. I like the PT, but don't like the amounts it cost me with repairs that happened a lot sooner than advertised. PT still my daily driver, still gets me from A to B as needed.

I have an 02 PT Classic here in Australia. It was my wife’s daily driver for five years until we replaced it with a new car. It sat in the carport, unloved for seven years before I handed in my company vehicle and took a vehicle allowance instead. After replacing the timing belt, water pump, tensioning pulleys, engine mounts and torque struts (most of which were precautionary due to age - it had only done 130000 km) it’s now my daily driver. Can’t fault it - no rust, body and interior look like new, and fun to drive. I did the mechanical work myself and yes, it’s a pain in a cramped space, but all it takes is a little patience. I know there’s not much middle ground in opinion on the PT Cruiser between love and hate, but I think it’s had an undeserved bad rap.
