    For this problem I have the solution: I created a tool for SolidWorks that renames all its components (including the drawings) following the sequence of the FeatureManager design tree, automatically in a few seconds (depends on the capacity of your computer).

    Can reference planes not be associated with global variables? I'm coming from fusion and I really grew to love their parametric system. I had it pretty dialed. this feels very clunky

    • @xanderwusky3001
      @xanderwusky3001 Před 2 měsíci

      Absolutely can do that, Not all features let you do it right at the start, not entirely sure why (might be technical reasons for that) Either way if that’s what you’re struggling with, enable a couple of the dimensions and you should be able to see the dimensions for the plane. You can also use the annotations folder (enable to show them there first in the same menu as enabling seeing the dimensions) Dubbel click that and you can fill in any equation or variable like normal. Keep in mind though with parametric design that if it gets complicated, it’s gonna get a lot worse really quickly. Currently working on a largely sheet metal housing with several sections and hardware. I made the whole thing parametric using like 40 global variables and tons more equations. I’ve not put in most of the details yet, this is so far mostly just the outside frame and a few important things like the hinges. But I shouldn’t need many more variables, the rest should mostly already exist, I can base of an existing one or is just a specific thing (though if I think I might want to adjust it I usually at least put it in the part itself. Usually they would all be in the assembly. Just so that way it doesn’t add to the clutter but I won’t forget about it.

    Hi, I am facing problem in equation when I go to change my equations, they dont update the part and rebuild. I have checked the automaticly rebuild box but they still don't change in the model, as shown by the same mass properties.

    • @aestheticnuts
      @aestheticnuts Před rokem

      I think Ctrl+B should work to rebuild the part

    • @gromitwoll6907
      @gromitwoll6907 Před rokem

      не обновляются размеры детали потому что ты их создавал без знака равно. Частая проблема. у размера должен стоять знак суммы. Если его нету то он обновляться не будет. Надеюсь сами переведете что я тут написал :)

    • @xanderwusky3001
      @xanderwusky3001 Před 2 měsíci

      When you change an equation this doesn’t rebuild the assembly until you either close the equation window or click the rebuild button within it. You will not be able to close the equation tab until you got rid of any errors. It will prompt you if you try and if you click ok it won’t save your changes. Now that was solution 1, but if you mean you’re already out of the menu and it doesn’t rebuild that likely means you have a reference loop somewhere. (Basically a dimension that’s defined multiple times or can’t be solved) Don’t worry if it take a few tries, the equations are incredibly useful but also very easy to set up wrong. Not to bad when it’s just 1 part but once it gets to a larger assembly it’s actual hounderds of dimensions. It’s so easy to place 1 in the wrong spot and screw up everything else. Tip for this, relate as many things to the same thing as you can. Just as an example say you want 4 lines on a plane at equal distance. If you relate all the lines to the sides this means that if the side disappears you’ll have to reassign all 4 of them. If you use a reference plane, or at least put the distances between themselves it will instead cause just 1 to break and will be much easier to fix
