Hello, I am North Alabama Railfan 527.
For several years, I have chased and filmed a lot of different trains. I mostly film them around the Northern part of Alabama. Most of the trains I film are from the Huntsville Madison County Railroad (HMCR). Occasionally, I will go to see trains from other places nearby like the steam trains at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum or old diesel trains at The Bay Line Railroad in Florida.
I started filming trains in 2016 and in October of 2022, I started uploading my train videos to CZcams. Over the years, I have made a lot of train videos. I have decided to upload all of my train videos from 2020-2024 first. Then, I will be uploading my train videos from 2016-2019.
As I upload all of these older videos, I will still continue to film trains every week or so and will be uploading them as well.

On May 14th, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 9554 as it was taking two hopper cars North. I was able to catch it at Weatherly Road.

On September 6th, I was able to catch a long Westbound NS freight train with 11 engines and 151 cars. There were 9 engines at the front, 93 cars, 2 more engines in the middle, and 58 more cars. On May 9th, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 3986 and HMCR 9554 as they were switching at Green Cove Road. At the time, the crew was controlling the train from 9554 which was behind 3986. On April 24th, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 8539 and HMCR 8527 as they were heading South with no cars. I was able to catch them at Southhurst Drive. On April 23rd, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 8527 as it was heading South with no cars. I was able to catch it at Southhurst Drive. A few hours later, I was able to catch HMCR 8527 and HMCR 8539 as they were heading back North with 10 hopper cars. I caught them at Kohler Road and Mountain Gap Road. On April 13th, 2019, I saw 8539 was idling in the yard near Clinton Avenue. HMCR 3986 was also there sitting behind 8539. Later that day, I got a picture of ICC-107 sitting near Wall Triana Highway. On April 1st, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 8539 and HMCR 8527 as they were heading South with no cars. I caught them at Southhurst Drive. On August 29th, I heard HMCR 8560 and HMCR 8527 were heading South with no cars, so I went to catch them at Green Cove Road. On March 23rd, 2019, I was able to catch HMCR 8527 and HMCR 8539 as they were taking 2 hopper cars, 5 tanker cars, and 1 more hopper car North. I was able to catch them at Meadowbrook Drive. A few days later on March 30th, I got a picture of 8539 and 8527 as they were sitting near Heart of Huntsville Drive ready to take 5 hopper cars South.

On February 25th, 2019, I was able to get a few pictures of HMCR 8527 and 8539 as they were heading South with no cars. I caught them at Weatherly Road. Probably one of the last Nashville and eastern GE locomotives in the attractive green and yellow paint scheme that was originally applied to the older U-boat locomotives that the railroad started out with after acquiring the line from the Tennessee Central most of the U-boat locomotives still wore the CSX blue and gray before the paint scheme
8539s back, but now where is 8527?
The HMCR went back to using 8560 and 8527 to pull trains now. Seems like they always use 8560 and switch between using 8527 or 8539 every few weeks. I think they keep whichever engine they aren’t using just North of Green Cove Road where they store tanker cars. Also, 9554 is still being used for switching at the yard downtown.

Still don't have a clue where 8539 is? I know they bought a new line in Barton, AL, if you can can you go on memorial parkway and see if 8539 is behind those cars?
No, I still don’t know where 8539 is. Soon I will be checking most of the HMCR railroad line in Huntsville to see if I can find where 8539 is at.
I was there that day also, and the symbols for the road trains were: 734, 370, 26C, another 26C and Amtrak 19, and I don’t know about the first train

No, I don’t know where 8539 is at. I haven’t seen it in almost two weeks. It might be stored somewhere around Green Cove Road.

9554 was used a few times back in March. 9554 is mostly used for switching around the yard.

It has ended it's repair work and should be running, they have it paired with another of there units (9554) and if you can they have a meeting on the 16th and anyone can come.

Yes, the HMCR has two gondola cars. I’m not sure why. The HMCR usually has only hopper cars and tanker cars.
@@northalabamarailfan5275 in 2017 the HMCR was discovered to have 75 gondalas but then 23 where interchanges with NS and everyone thought they were all gone but there still are at least 2.

Why have the HMCR been paring 9554 with the B39-8's?
Not sure. The HMCR doesn’t normally use 9554. It’s also strange that the HMCR placed 9554 between 8560 and 8539.
Maybe because there getting used to 3 engine operation with 8527 coming out of storage.
Is 8527 in running operation?
I haven’t seen it run. I saw it earlier today still sitting in a siding near Holmes Avenue. It’s been there for almost a year now. I’m hoping it will be running again soon.

The Huntsville Madison County Railroad Authority operates this line and I believe about 13 miles of track is used.
Interesting history that these locomotives were originally owned by a leasing company and we’re often used on the Burlington Northern originally equipped with RS-5T horns it’s nice to hear it wearing an RS3K horn a common horn used by Burlington Northern

Not sure. Hopefully it will be restored later on in the future.
