I would have changed shutter speed instead of aperature. should be no problem with a tripod even with longer times and makes the images more comparable?!
In contrast to famous film photo CZcamsrs with large amout of subscribers you can take nice pictures. Thanks for this helpful review!
This is incredibly kind of you to say. Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed this video!
i've never been an advocate of reviewing something you just used for the first time, just will make you feel dumb in the future when you rewatch it but this is the time we're living, many people trying to know something about the C330 may be marked by this and then understand the solution is to go buy a rolleiflex, curiously enough we rarely find reviews doubting anything about rolleiflex, leica, or hasselblad because they are very expensive and are supposed to be flawless, when it comes to mamiya people somehow understand is not on part with these other brands but this is very wrong. certainly you need to CLA your camera as everybody should when dealing with very old equipment and understand a TLR system, things as the parallax correction in this camera are just master engineering, the system for distance scale that can be adjusted to the different lenses and the fact that you can basically do macro is priceless not to talk about the magnificent lenses from mamiya, how the parallax lines will adjust according to the lens or how there's another black line to indicate the amount of light you lose as you extent the bellows all of this is just mechanical genius. so understand that this is not a portable camera by default, give it couple of months and then come back when you have something solid to say based on many rolls of experience. i think it's plane stupid to review a film camera after the first roll, even for a first impression video, this is film not digital there are to many variables to be sure of anything with a first roll, it's just not enough and why hurry? this is film, it is about taking your time to enjoy photography.
I’ve been shooting my RB67 for 4yrs now. I wish I had a video like this when I started. So many trials and errors I went through. MY TIP FOR NEW USERS. REMEMBER TO TAKE THE DARK SLIDE OUT!!!!
I'm such a fan now of Lyons. Thank you for this!
The graphic is missing the ‘t’ in spotlight.
Wow thanks so much. Can’t believe I missed that. I’ll fix it right away.
Real good
It's not pronounced "Su-jee-mo-to" but su-gi-mo-to (hard g)
I received a random follow on my instagram page from Uncropped. I had know idea who he was either until the follow. Such a rad talented person. Thanks for this video.
How do I comment on your Artist Spotlights ? From UK, I visit NYC regularly. On a visit in 2015 or 2017, I sat next to an old guy in a subway. He was loading 35mm film into a camera. We had a nice talk. I now think that it was James Hamilton. Thanks for your enthusiastic work. Just watched your Danny Lyon piece too. Great.
Diane Arbus
This is all bullshit.
I've never heard of you or your videos but this randomly showed up on my recommended and the thumbnail intrigued me. The video sold me on the premise. I'm going to buy a copy in a couple of days and I'll leave a review on Amazon when I'm done. Good luck with your authorial endeavors!
Wow thanks so much! I’m glad the premise grabbed you and that you stumbled upon my video! Hope you enjoy the book and can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
It's been a bit since I've used my sq. I was shocked at the current prices of backs and everything else. If you really want that back off. It's just a mechanical switch that is released by putting something similar to the slide along the bottom edge while pressing the release button. The ps glass and coatings are nicer and also add 1/2 stops for aperture. You can adapt 35mm easily with adapters. I also made a body cap pinhole which is approximately 80mm to give you some more options. Batteries last a long time.
Thanks so much for your content Now I now how to handle my xr-2 I’m a beginner Thank you so much
there are 10-20 other great American photographers who deserve this praise ... This fellow gave us some cool stuff ... His political "talk" is a big turn off ..
Jesus man! If you can't even say these peoples names right with it written down in front of you why would I watch this shit?
So if you were to take indoor pictures, then the DOF would be shallower than 35mm since you still need to open the aperture for low light (lets say both wide open at F/4)? In other words, does this make medium format more challenging in low light if you wanted to capture the same DOF?
I’m excited to try it out just got my first roll!
Appreciate the kind words!
Appreciate the videos and the amazing work you do!
Cons 6x6 format?
Don't do a video like this until you're a better photographer. Your examples offered NO clues as to the attributes of each film.
Nice video
Very good discussion
400D has to be rated at 200 iso & processed normally for daylight shots or pushed 2 stops (1600) & processed at 1600 & it looks really good especially if shot at night.. If shot at box speed & processed that way the results are all over the place
I have the Mamiya 220 and I love the image quality I get from it but my only gripe is the size....I seem to struggle fitting it in my camera bags!
C33/C330 cameras sometimes suffer from advance issues. I have a C33 here on a shelf for spare parts that sometimes advances the film, sometimes it doesn't. It's just a parts body. Another thing to check is that you shut the back fully with two thumbs putting pressure on both sides, and then keep pressure as you turn the lock dial. There's a catch on the right that if not fully enacted sometimes jacks things up. Good luck! I have 3 C220's, 2 C33's, and a C330. Did an entire project on one of my 220's that now has its images in a solo show at a local college. The leaf shutter is much more quiet than my Hasselblad, and that's why I chose this camera for the project.
Ruh roh.. I really like my C220. I don’t think I’ve busted out a C330 in decades. I agree about the relatively dim wlf.. I use a prism finder almost exclusively on my C220.. it does the trick. I’ll be interested in what you discover about the double exposure thing. Good luck!
Ruh rob indeed. Hoping I can get the hang of this camera and figure out what caused those double exposures.
I read red filter and I thought this was an astrophotography video, now I wonder how would a h-alpha filter look in a b&w film... I guess it would look great for astro, after all some good astro cameras are b&w, but I don't know how the film would affect the results
Putting TMax3200 in D tier because it was misused seems odd.
6:48 Did you push this picture?
I’m glad I found your channel this week! I particularly liked your 2023 recap, it was very relatable. Your approach to photography is very tasteful and mechanically balanced. Thank you for putting in the work to make this content, it’s a great accompaniment to my photography journey!
Such an informative video! Do you happen to own an xr-8 and if so could you do a video on it?
Well done, Joshua! How about Walter Ioss , Jr?
Loving the ATL shots! I live in Atlanta and I’m always looking for inspiration on how to shoot my home town. There’s a lot of pine forests and hills here, so I find it takes a little more time to find good subjects. Honestly, I think urban/street photography goes hard in Atlanta. Lots of good gardens as well. Great video!
What are the odds?! I almost bought a Mamiya C330 from a friend of mine, but I gave it back to him this week because I couldn't afford his asking price. It would be wild if that was the same one.
Did you develop in HC-110 or XTOL?
Thanks for the Cat photos, I love cats at the moment. I can't have any because of my Mom, but whenever i want to play with some cats, I go to my brother's house because he has 3 cats. 🎉 so my friend keep putting those Cat photos. I love them. God bless you 🙏
miss ya buddy! ❤
Miss you too bud!
you would love his work if you saw them in person. DYE TRANSFERS ARE GORGEOUS
Would this work by having the camera in monochrome and using a speedlight with a red gel?
You’re too young to forget what you did with the film rolls. Wait until you’re my age.
If you can get hold of the Bronica speed grip it makes a huge improvement to hand held shooting with the prism finder
beautiful stuff!
Thank you so much!
Я только что купил эту камеру с рук, кто знает почему мигает два индикатора внутри видоискателя 60 и 125 ?
The shot at 10:40 goes crazy 🔥
I’m very proud of that one and all of the photos I got at Santa Monica. Thanks so much for watching!
A good picture is one that is worth looking at. These pictures are very good.
I want the video about yellow filters
It’s on the way! Probably coming sometime in June.
6x6 is a pro for me. Still I am not ready to replace my 20 years older Bronica S2A...
also, i guess, the video would be more informative, if you gave the real names of those guys
