      Hi Simarjeet! Thanks for watching the video. Currently you need the $25 USD application available on the iOS store to create Image Occlusion cards directly on your iOS device. Once you have done so you can go to Add Card -> Choose Image Occlusion (not Image Occlusion Enhanced) as your Note Type -> Select Photo from either Camera Roll, Clipboard, Camera, or from a File -> Then you can mask the portions you want to hide to test yourself on this knowledge. I wonder how the algorithm compares for medical students vs language learners, since those seem to be the most common use cases. I know as a language learner learning Japanese, I love the idea of less reviews and longer intervals in the long run, but one thing that I struggle with is when making brand new cards (which is the first time I'm learning a new word so it's brand new information), when I pass the card I end up with a roughly one week interval until the next time I'll see it, which seems like a really long time for a brand new concept. However if I fail it and then press Good after, it puts that card at one day until next review. Overall this is a really cool upgrade for Anki, I think I just need to understand it better before taking the leap into using it. Probably overthinking it as well.

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed Před 2 dny

      Yeah speaking from the medical side of things FSRS is definitely a huge improvement over SM-2 for reviews but it seems our sides' focus is moreso on cracking exams rather than incorporating a tool into everyday use from the language user's perspective. I would def reccommend trying it out and seeing if it helps. To do so make a backup of the decks you are using and import them into a new profile. Then on that new profile activate FSRS and see if that has any marked difference on retaining knowledge pertinent for language learning. Either way thanks for watching this video and hope you have a great rest of your day/night!

    Little Bit Off Topic, But I want to Know, While Importing a Deck, Anki Itself Sent my cards to Default Deck. Now The Main Decks are Empty and All Decks are in default Deck. Sure! Importing an Anki deck with progress involves a few steps. Here’s a step-by-step guide: Open Anki on the source device. Go to the 'Decks' screen. Select the deck you want to export. Click on 'File' in the menu bar. Choose 'Export'. In the Export window: Set 'Export Format' to 'Anki Deck Package (*.apkg)'. Make sure 'Include scheduling information' is checked to ensure progress is included. Click 'Export'. Choose a location to save the .apkg file and click 'Save'.

    are you stealing from anking? that's scummy

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed Před 9 dny

      Nope! Anking V12 actually contains content (mainly images from Wikimedia) that was licensed under the Creative Commons 2.0 license so it technically is fair to share openly (the reason why it was allowed to be shareable on AnkiCollab with the Anking Team's knowledge). Also want to point out that the Anking deck was a compilation of Zanki, lolnotacop, and Dorians deck so just want to say the underlying base was not technically created by Anking. I do appreciate the Anking Team's effort to create a more organized deck for student's to use and purchased a lifetime subscription to AnkiHub myself (evidenced by my other videos showing students how to use AnkiHub for Anking V12 and other decks on the platform). If anything having a sideloadable version of Anking V12 saved the Anking Team server costs (the majority of students who used this method wee from foreign countries where online payment processors may be harder to use, so I am steering those folks towards Mnemosyne for Step 1 and Janki for Step 2) but alas AnkiCollab is no longer hosting Anking V12. Also there's a pretty chiller process for anyone to acquire Anking V12 for free through AnkiHub which works on an honor system provided by the AnkiHub team. Unfortunately the creator of AnkiCollab decided to permanently remove all Anking material from the AnkiCollab Distribution platform. You are much better off going with a deck like Mnemosyne for Step 1 or Janki for Step 2 CK moving forward. Or if you really want Anking V12 apply for a scholarship and the team will get back to you pretty soon. Anking V12 Scholarship Application Page: www.ankihub.net/scholarships

    • @FixerMed

      Hey I don't have an 8BitDo Zero 2 but I think I can help you out with this. I think its actually called the X Mode after reading the 8BitDo Zero 2 Instruction Manual I found online. Heres a quick summary of what to do: Reset the buttons to 'X mode': With the 8BitDo Zero 2 controller turned off, press and hold ‘start’ and ‘X’ simultaneously. The blue light should start flashing. Then, press and hold ‘select.’ The blue light should begin flashing more rapidly. Connect to your device now. Reset the D-pad to left joystick: Hold Select + D-pad left, to work as left joystick hat. Hold until it flashes red for it to work. Key mapping: Open Anki and access the add-on settings via 'Tools' on the top tab. In the settings tab, select the controller you are using (For you that would be 8BitDo Zero 2). Then click on 'Controls' in the top bar and map the way you like, taking into account which Anki window the settings refer to. If you want the instruction manual to the various connection modes for the 8BitDo Zero 2 I'll link the Instruction Manual to this comment. Hey, do you use FSR in anki? Other thing that I'm starting to use is AnkiCollab addon and website and I have some questions about how to use it correctly. It would be cool if you could make a tutorial of both of those things. Also, thanks for the video! ~a fan from brazil edit: i found one tutorial about fsr in your channel right now lol

    Your channel is amazing. Thank you for everything! I have a small request: could you explain how to use the Step1 deck? How are people typically using it? I downloaded it and browsed through it, and while it seems straightforward and I'm familiar with Anki and I don't even need the sundecks, I'm unsure how to use it without messing up the algorithm.

If you need a deck urgently for Step 1 I would strongly recommend the Mnemosyne Deck instead or for Step 2 I would recommend the Janki Deck. I will be sure to update you if there's any new developments here but unfortunately it seems to be out of my hand to have Anking V12 back on this platform.

    Can I use image occlusion enhanced with the FSRS algorithm on the newest Anki version? Or is it recommended to delete the addon and use the native version that comes along the latest update?

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed Před měsícem

      Hey Joshua thanks for watching the video! The Native Implementation included in Anki 23+ and the separate Add-on should both be good for FSRS optimization so you should be good there! Honestly I feel like the add-on is more workflow friendly for me (I don't know if I am biased or not since I have been using this format to study for a few years now) when compared to the native implementation so I would honestly recommend just keeping the add-on for now. Think as Anki progresses the Native Implementation will get better but for now keep the Add-on for sure. Hope you have a great rest of your day/night and good luck studying as always!

      Hey huss alo! Thanks for watching the video. I am currently using the AnkiHub version of Anking V12 for studying purposes. I think I updated this guide to include more media that was scrubbed which might help you out but idk if that currently is working due to the fact that Anking V12 was recently removed from AnkiCollab but I'll be sure to link it down here. I also think you can manually delete that picture by hitting "Edit" and deleting whatever you don't want. I know its an arduous process but it is an unfortunate limitation of the ex-AnkiCollab version of Anking V12. Link to Updated Anking V12 Media Tutorial: czcams.com/video/rUSUHBgEvlA/video.html

      @FixerMed Před měsícem

      Hey Sanaa! Yeah I get what you're saying about the progress not syncing between your devices. This has happened to others here as well. So I am guessing you are creating the cards on Desktop and the cards are being synced to the iPad with the progress not being saved. There's a couple of potential fixes I have been able to find here. Make sure you are updated to the latest version of Anki on both your desktop and your iPad. Next restart both devices. Ensure automatic syncing is enabled on both devices. Next hit Tools > Check Media... > Delete any unused media. This might make it easier to sync between both devices. Please let me know if this works for you and if you have any more questions please feel free to leave them down in the comment section below! @@aditya5162 Hey Aditya I do not believe add-ons work on AnkiMobile iOS Edition (as of right now) so I believe its just a system setting on iOS to detect a controller as either a gamepad or as a keyboard. I think it should be relatively straight forward with the PS5 controller like how it is with a Joy-Con Controller.
