I made a dummy bridge. This attaches to the guitar using magnets and helps in the process of tuning the top. It also helps me try out a few techniques and jigs before committing to the final design.

I think a diamond disc tile cutter would have worked a lot better for the first stage
You don't need a "tensioner". Just use the weight of your motor pulling down on the belt, set on a hinged shelf. You can set up a bolt to lock it down too, or tighten it beyond the motor weights pull if needed.
This is a brilliant video. Lots of great ideas and interesting solutions to problems
You got it a bit wrong. The tapered cut is not equal to the circumfrance as it runs obliquely and not straight around. So that cut edge will be longer than the circumfrance making the angle wrong and hence the following wraps.
Glad to see the little white spots went away after applying a few more coats of CA glue. I have the same spots and was about to sand down to remove them but didn't want to sand through. I'll try n wipe a coat on after I blow as much of the white dust out of the holes then clean with naphtha. Thanks for the video & the insight
For those that have a table saw , you can mark the lines that you need , then use a crosscut sled and cut notches with the table saw ALL ON ONE SIDE of the lines ... Then you can cut a notch in your miter box with the same table saw blade and you can make a pin the exact size of your table saw kerf ... It is much faster than filing them and quite accurate 😊
You are the first and only one to mention that the string is too stiff at the saddle to vibrate. I can add that for every harmonic higher than the base note the note is slightly higher. I put the guitar into an oscilloscope and saw that if the base note is dead on the first harmonic is sharp and the second harmonic is sharper still etc. I put it down to the aspect ratio of the string thickness to the string length. The thinner the string the less the effect. This is why we tune down the low E a few cents , the A a bit less and D right on then again G flat a few cents B a bit less and E right on to make it sound right to the ear on average.
As soon as you said steel strings I swicthed off.
Are you kidding? Look at my booboo? Take this video off the net to save people time. Please!
Cheers for this well needed
Very cool
Thank you - it helped me to assemble mine - (same model but not exactly the same assembly ? ) - their instructions & diagrams are nearly useless. And finally, yes it works but it is not a precision tool - too many wobbly loose bits - fence & angle guide move about so I'll have to clamp something better to the table. The bottom door hits underside of table when opened. Cheap.
I’m planing on doing this but I’m gonna try and see if a drip system will work
Use a pulverizer, much quicker and no shaking
Sorry I meant it's the bottom tyre keeps coming off it goes back on easily but then only runs a few seconds then off again
Hi, I purchased this band saw a few weeks ago to cut tube cane for bagpipe reed manufacture and it worked fine for a few weeks however the bottom belt keeps coming off after a few seconds running , I've done all the set as per your video and used the adjustment you did to get the blade in the centre of the wheels but no luck. BTW your video was great for setting it up, the instructions that came in the box were useless so thanks for that! Hoping you could give some advice. Thanks.
My parlor was just like that bridge
Hi Susan, I just bought a German parlor guitar that has that exact same bridge on it. It’s very basic and was a latter braced instrument. I could send you a couple pictures if you want. That’s what we call an America birds eye maple it is gorgeous.
Did you finish the guitar?
the best assembly video, thank you Susan!
I have 185 years old stradivarius original violin. Will you help me to sell
I recently bought a new Yamaha classical guitar and the saddle was WAY too thin for the .100" slot. Were all of your strings sharp when you got a good-fitting saddle in place? Was the bridge itself too far forward? In the beginning of your video I thought you were saying that the back of the bridge was pulled up a bit ... like you get with a belly bump. I had one of my acoustics with that issue and I brought the bridge and guitar top down flat with a Bridge Doctor device.
Thank you Susie!! Finally an explanation so clear that even I can understand the concept.
So if you cut a radius in side why can’t you just do the same for the bottom???
Joshua Bell, Itzark Pearlman and so many other great violinists could be playing those violins. What a waste ❤
Hi I don't own a scroll saw to cut out the paper holders any alternatives thanks. Your skills are impressive. Thanks
Like your video and your persistence...the music is absolutely obnoxious.
I saw in a video that a very expensive violin was loaned to twoset and although they didn't break it the did banged it and were clowning around alot. These violins have historic values worth more than any player playing it and putting them in danger of being irreversibly damaged. Just saying
That is not entirely correct. It is Paganini's Guarneri del Jèsu violin estimated one billion Euro.
I have a Yamaha G-50a and recently replaced the bridge, and then used a bone saddle and nut, to get rid of the old nylon parts... I am not a pro by any means, but did a substantial amount of research before getting into this effort, and having an extensive mechanical background, with some drafting and musical background, I feel I should be able to do this... My project came out wonderfully, and this video of yours was instrumental in helping me achieve the end result I obtained... The guitar is absolutely wonderful, and I have friends who are mesmerised by the sound and accuracy of this guitar... Mac

Good build thanks
That is great thanks
How did it hold up also what brand super glue do you recommend?
Great job ,in my opinion,a little run out is not bad at all ,it shows you are making square contact " , and it's better to have just enough glue ,then not enough !
you are a wizard.
could you not make a 2mm shim the width and hight attach to rear of saddle fish glue try to blend it in if it dose not work no harm done
Good video Susan x
Wowww!!! That's a lot of work gone into this video!! 🙂 Thank you 🙂
What is that tuning app?
You need a foot pedal :D
Without active ampli circuit? I made my own conversion too but with a knob to silent piezo output instead of a switch, do you know what? It sounds anything.
Name song??
I'm a finger picker and I'm pretty good, but I can only dream of playing with the amazing beautiful skill and rhythm like this lady x
is the bridge still properly attached to the top if it was tilted this much by the tension of the strings? or is the top crooked at all? wouldn't it make more sense to straighten the top and/or glue the bridge back in place instead of putting this weird kind of saddle on there?
is that the reason why the g string always sounds the shittiest?
no .
where can i download the plans? please i enjoyed watching the videos
what about a dado for the sheet steel to slot into similar to a drawer bottom?
