Im from san ramon. Nice to see my town in your vídeo
I really enjoyed listening to this very nice man and hearing all about his family and history. I am a Canadian living in Montreal and I`ve lived in Montreal all my life and love Montreal. I have visited Costa Rica as a tourist 9 times over the years . My first time visiting Costa Rica was 1991. I always stay in the beach town Jaco because of it`s closeness to the airport in San Jose. The only thing more I`d of liked to see in this video is a tour of San Vito . Take care and all the best , Cheers , Pura Vida .
Thanks for this. I am coming up on my three years as a temp this May 2021, and there isn't much info out there on the change from temp to perm. Thank you very much. How long did it take to receive your perm card and was it delivered to the immigration office for pickup? Take care.
great story !!! my parents were italian imigrants in canada.hopefully i will visit san vito next year, thanks for the video!!!!!
7:42 It's called critical thinking!
Not High buildings ,not heavy traffic, just a Little peacefull Town to live. The plus are the nice friendly people and no Rush !
Great tour Paul. I made up my mind a year ago to move to San Ramon, hope to be there next year.
Hey Paul and Gloria! Not sure if you remember me, but its David from the class of three you sat in last summer with Tim and Asia! I hope all is well, I miss you guys. Thanks again for giving us a walkthrough of your guy's life there, I'd love to visit again soon!
Thanks for that!
I am a tico and spent one year living in Montréal with Canadian-Italians from south Italy , They are very similar from us and I really enjoy that time. I think CR has been bless with European immigration that has helped this country to the economic development and democracy, a very different Central American country aimed to be an example of peace in the region ! We´ve really got a chance to be a successful country !
Did you have to pay a $50 application fee?
Actually, it was $200. All the details are in this article: retireforlessincostarica.com/applying-for-permanent-residency-in-costa-rica/.

Hi Paul and Gloria ! Thank you for taking us on your walk. So many memories, though we lived in Grecia. The sounds and sights and friendly people are similar and we know there are pluses and minuses of living in town or on a ridge, so it was interesting to see what is right in your neighborhood.
That was gareat, elly enjoyed it. Looking good Uncle Doug, missing you.
LOVED the video. Brought back so many memories.
Muy divertido y interesante Paul. Eres un actor nato. Pero creo que me quedo en Salvador Bahia por encuanto.
Well done
Well, I'll be darn! I am getting ready to start my garden and I look up organic gardening in Costa Rica and who do I meet up with? Steve Johnson! Actually, I've seen this video before but I didn't know you then. I am really impressed with your gardening skills and the birds you attract. Saludos amigo!
I would suggest reading the book "Ho bruciato le mie navi tra queste montagne" (I burned my ships on these mountains) for a more accurate documentation about the colony of San Vito. Even if the inside story of someone that lived and worked in the colony is interesting, there are a lot of lies and resentment overlooking the many troubles of building a colony in a tropical forest. As the nephew of the person who tried to give a better life to many post-war Italians families (which by way, it the refers to "Vito" the Saint of the Inmigrants, not himself) I feel insulted by such declarations. The only thing he got right, was that Company did failed because of lack of roads (The Costarican Government didn't building them on time as stated by their contract). Many Italians fleet to other parts of Costa Rica and overseas afterwards. Many years later as my grandfather lost everything and won it back with hard labor (coffee finally produced really good gains), a small church was built overlooking the town of San Vito. Here, on its walls it is written: "Para los que dieron y no vieron" (For those that gave, but never received back")
Yes, but it's this guy's story. From his point of view, it's very accurate.
Wow, Gloria! What a great find! Thanks for sharing this. I'm looking forward to your future videos about all things Oaxacan! In 2004, (I think) I took a group of adult students who studied at a language institute there for two weeks. I love Oaxaca and have wanted to return with my husband ever since. Since he retired in February, we hope to make that trip within the next few years.
Hi Bonnie! We were here for the first time around the same time -- actually for our honeymoon in December 2003/January 2004. We loved it then and love it now. It's quite a special place!
What's great video. I can listen to these old timers all day.
Thanks for the info Jessica. I love that mural!
The mural @ 0.55 was painted in January 2006. I was one of the Irish that helped paint this. The theme was cultural myths. Ireland chose the Children of Lir.
LOVE IT!!!! Standard thiefs on the beach!!!
