    Week 3.5 of my implantation. Pain lasted 1.5 weeks. Currently Major Tension is gone, chest is still slightly tight. Soreness only appears if i lay on it wrong. I did the stupid on day 3 and reached for something without thinking. I felt it tug on my heart and my heart rate shot up. I had a weird goose egg in my throat for 2 days but it faded. I was able to reach above my head at 2 weeks and 2 days. The pacemaker works instantly. The first 24 hours mine was active 70% of the time, keep in mind i was in pain and was Taking pain killers. I figure out in 3 days (4 week mark) how it works when pain and narcotics are not present. I have only had a problem with my phone being too close. It doesn't make it randomly misfire, but in the presence of magnetic energy it sets to a smooth 80bpm. This can enduce nausea, simply move the phone or magnetic thing and you'll feel better in a few seconds. Otherwise you really don't feel anything. You just immediately have more energy. If you're watching this. Dont freak out.

    Stephen Bianco 0 seconds ago I had a dual chamber pacemaker installed 9/21 due to sinus node issues (low heartbeat, atrial flutter), did a month of no to limited left arm movement, took it easy for another month, and resumed normal activity to relieve frozen shoulder, which didn't involve workouts, etc. My first diagnostic visit, ecg showed that the top lead had pulled out of the heart, oh great. Reason unknown, lead may have been too short, wasn't fully lodged in the heart muscle, just sometimes happens. Successful Re-insertion surgery 1/22, although I went into atrial flutter and it hasn't stopped. We are trying medication first so far not working, then will do an electrical cardioversion (did that prior to pacemaker, stopped the flutter), then do a Catheter ablation. So, anyway, the frozen shoulder issue is back again, never really got rid of it fully from the 1st time. Concerned about doing anything that might affect the lead, my Cardiologist said just take it easy. Although, I am now worried there might be some permanent issues due to having had this frozen shoulder now 2x.

    Does a pacemaker shorten a person's life. In other words, if a person gets a pacemaker in their early 40's or early 50's and they are healthy other than maybe a slow heart rate - life expectancy or average years a person can live with one. Some people even younger get one in their 20's. Will their life, in general from known research, be shortened?

    • @jaynemcguire
      @jaynemcguire Před rokem

      My Cardiologist said absolutely not. I even asked if my heart would become lazy with the PM compensating for low or missed heart beats, and again he said no. He said his Grandmother has one for 30 years, and that was old technology and bigger boxes. I also discovered that I was feeling a bit amped at night with my heart rate and couldn't sleep. The tech told me we can program your PM with a sleep mode, just like your iphone, and turn down the heart for example, from 10 pm-6 am. Just be aware if you travel, to reprogram to a new time zone if necessary. I came away buoyed by this information and the technology that was available to me.
