Nice theory on the stones being returned to their prior state by the ancient one. As for the rest, Cap returned the stones preventing the branched timelines from passing the threshold. Therefore the sacred timeline remained intact as the 'Avengers' did what they were supposed to and nothing became of the branching as they looped back into the sacred timeline. People didn't forget about these branches as the narrative resolved them and they are now inconsequential. What is potentially consequential now that a multiverse exists, are displaced variants. Gamora, symbiote remnants, America Chavez being in the MCU. The variant Black Widow displaced by the Watcher in What if, and Photon in an X-men reality and the Vulture in the Sony-verse. Time travel stuff is completely irrelevant now that they have switched over to the multiverse. That was the whole point of Loki season 1 & 2.

Ah great point! Returning the stones might prevent a Nexus Event, but how far off the path does one need to go to create a Nexus Event? Showing up late to work could cause a Nexus Event, but would that happen in every case? I would think there's SOME wiggle room in the timeline, as long as the main events still happen... but maybe I need to rewatch a few of these projects again haha. Time Slipping still played a factor in Loki S2, so I wouldn't say time tampering is completely off the table. But yes, the big focus will be on the multiverse and Secret Wars. Definitely a lot of threads set up for incursions. Thanks so much for such a well thought-out comment!

@@TheShieldHeroCritique thanks for the response! Definitely agree that there was some wiggle room in the sacred timeline. It was dipicted as continually looping with multiple strands, indicating events playing out over and over again. Couple that with the different Loki's in the void and the implication is that some deviation occurs outside of those events. The threshold for nexus events is a visual indicator for wiggle room. Although I do imagine time tampering isn't completely gone, I can't see it being relevant narrative wise. Time travel is paradoxical and confusing to audiences, which is why most entertainment featuring time travel explores a related paradox. A multiverse resolves these paradoxes with infinite timelines, simplifying the narrative while allowing more freedom to writers. Sticking with time tampering when they have opened up the multiverse would be a backwards step. Anyway, thanks again for your response and keep it up.

I love that Ghostbusters got a shout out. Holy heck that was such a train wreck trying to tell such a ridiculously stretched story all while introducing or showcasing 13 characters in this new film. Not including main baddy and sub villains. Truly a film you need to watch a few times to get everything. And that’s just understanding it. Such wasted opportunities and potential 😔
