    Nice 185 there, my son bought one a year ago that sat for app 12 years we didn't get as lucky as you did, I overhauled injection pump but replaced everything else in the fuel system, it was really nasty like tar almost it was terrible, but we got it up and going, it has 2130 actual hours on it and it's a late 1980 model too.

      @4310deere thankyou, I've done a few before, so it doesn't bother me anymore, lol. The pump shop I use is called dairyland diesel. They are in Argyle Wisconsin. With these Rosa master pumps, I've never paid more than $600 to get one rebuilt. They've done 20 plus pumps for me in the past 15 years or so, and I've never had issues with one after they rebuilt it. They are a small shop 2 Mennonite guys an uncle and nefew so they don't have all the over head. Anyhow, they are great about shipping and super friendly. If you'd like to save some cash and still have quality work done, I highly suggest them.

      @TimothyFluegel Před 6 dny

      @4310deere that was the 1st place we looked 😆 we have 2 other 100 series tractors, so I allways have extra filters around. So it got a new one right away. That's why the nose cone was off acually. There was a nice 10 bedroom condo in there at least 😆 and a birds nest in the precleaner, of course. I'm not sure what kind of bird it was, but half the nest was made out of old rusty nails 🤷‍♂️😆

      That’s crazy! I have a gas 170 myself, Grandpa was all Orange. He bought a 185 new. His had a Year Round cab on it. It was his only diesel and only cab tractor. It was always in beautiful shape. On the air filter, I learned a great lesson last week. I have a JD 450C track loader, I bought it in 2017, I’ve only used it around my place cleaning fence rows. I never used it in any dusty conditions, the sir filters for whatever reason just weren’t something I worried about till last week when I pulled them. Previous owner had wrote 9/9/92 on the inner and 5/07 on the outer!! Mice must have mistaken the housing for a corn crib. $135 for 2 new filters but done.

    • @TimothyFluegel
      @TimothyFluegel Před 5 dny

      @4310deere 😆 1992 is say you and the previous owner got the money's worth from that filter lol. It sounds like your grandpa was my kinda guy, my grandpa's big tractor was the 190 xt series 3. We still have it. It's one that will never leave the farm. We also have the 5 16s he bought with it both new at the time.

    @nickb8618 Před 10 dny

    I noticed my no till beans trailed the neighbors tilled beans but in the heat of summer my no till beans look way better than the tilled. My guess is the no till holds moisture better in the long run once you hit the heat of July 🤷‍♂️ and holy hell do I have pods

    • @TimothyFluegel
      @TimothyFluegel Před 5 dny

      That's great to hear, there's so many variables that go into it, on our land we've found the rules ground allways seems to do better. My brother had a 6bpa gain above the no tiles ground. Wroth just 1 disc pass. My opinion is because he worked the fertilizer in, it seemed life the clay held the same moisture if it's tilled or not, and contrary to everything we believe and what would make sense he had less run off on the disced ground, seems like the water was able to soak in to the clay better. In the no tilled clay ground especially it just seems to stay on top and create wash outs.

    An air hose with a long tip gets places that the vacuum can't, sometimes it's quicker to blow everything off then sweep it up. Also, I just planted mint behind the barn hoping that it keeps them away from the building, then I plan to put some cuttings inside in the corners. Bonus: I won't have to trim against the barn and when I mow, it smells Minty Fresh.

You've got practical experience driving a tractor, so you're already way out ahead of a lot of guys at the pulls 😆 If I'm not mistaken the 770 has a really low 1st gear, on a power track it will work on your advantage but on a loose track you might want to pull 2nd if you can. Does your brother plant any organic corn himself?

      No he doesn't. He does alot of hay and he's worried he'll end up needing to cultivate and make hay at the same time. That's his excuse anyways 😆

    How do you figure the nitrogen amount with organic? Is the seed viking blue brand? The organic interest me. I'm all conventional but I think we over use fertilizer and stuff.

      I use chicken manure and I get an analysis from the chicken farm every year to determine how much to use. I don't count carry over due to having a cover crop. Ya the seed is viking blue river I have had good luck with their corn over the years.
