Charlie Kish Guitarist for Another Day Rescuing Phones and Being Very Cool on Social Media
It's great to talk to Charlie Kish who is the guitarist for the rock band Another Day.
Charlie is oozing with enthusiasm for playing and gigging which comes across in this interview and a cracking guitarist to boot.
This was great fun chanting to Charlie as he talks about playing the guitar from the age of four and how a visit to a music shop can transform your life.
Another day or a superb young band who are worth checking out if you're in the London area, and they have some fantastic ideas about social media promotion.

    Thank you so much for this interview, as much as I love hearing him play it's nice to hear him talk at length without a guitar and get some background on him and how he thinks. When I was studying music at Uni one of my lecturers told us he was taught by Shaun and used to sing his praises all the time (no pun intended). My old lecturer basically took everything he said as gospel (and I can see why) and funnily enough, when I hear Shaun play, I can hear his influence on my lecturer.

    I lvd your video. Thank you. I also went to "Tolemac" Stuies home in Australia and his first session In Brazil with Stuie, Pixy, Kajuyali Tsamani, his family and apprentices. wow, wow, wow extraordinary times. I Lvd him and his excentric nature. In 1990 I was looking for books on Gems in Oz and was in a very old secondhand book shop on a small ladder trying to pry a book of maps and gems in Queensland when a book fell and hit my foot on the way down. It was "The Quickening". It fell on it's back and I saw a handsome man with a matrix coat. I thought to myself," I need to read that". Picked it up put it in my basket and kept going. Well, that little book started me on a journey that was extraordinary and enchanted and difficult but magical. Well, you get it. Thank you for the reminder of an Epic time. How do women get like this? I’m betting she has an enormous body count. And all the trauma that comes with. You’re not off the proverbial hook either Taylor. You exercise a fair bit of delusion yourself. I recommend you both read the gospels. If you find it necessary seek out all the literature that’s come into existence in the last 40 years for the case for Christ. Not just a historical man named Jesus but the Son of God that died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected on the 3rd day bringing His believers everlasting life and salvation in his Fathers Kingdom.

    23" - Stuart's first book is of 1983. How come his "hay day" came with his first book (or before) when it did not even have a title? How he would have had a following before his FIRST book?

    • @vichyland4130
      @vichyland4130 Před 8 měsíci

      His following build from his work in America with Marshall Lever and then from his solo work. As far as i know the original book cover was an oriental styled picture of a sage with a child.

    • @Flandernify
      @Flandernify Před 8 měsíci

      @@vichyland4130 Marshall Lever followers of that day should not be too hard to find, and a must for your series of interviews. Stuart's "'obscure'' years seem to amount to just some 5 years - from when he was 28 to 33 y.o. , i.e. when he quit his clothing business to the moment he publishes his first book. Regarding that period, he spoke of the strict training, the move to the US, a "'real estate'' business (whatever that means exactly... and that he would have sold his part to buy the next, presumably the publishing biz, which would have taken 3 years to turn a profit), and being the president of a church (!!!) for at least 2 years.

    Just stumbled across this. Good interview Vic, thanks! Why I was excited to listen to it: - I tried learning the guitar from 1989 to 1995. I wasn’t very good and got frustrated and gave up. But started again in 2021! Anyway during that first attempt to learn guitar I used to read Shaun’s columns. My level was far too low to understand or apply what he was teaching but I read them anyway! I was intrigued to imagine what his playing might sound like. Back then there was no way to know how these guys from the magazines sounded! I then bought Jazz Metal with great excitement when it came out in 1993. I thought it was great and wildly low profile/under-rated, much like Shaun himself. Flash forward to March 2023 and I’m at Ronnie Scott’s to see Frank Gambale. I get chatting to a Korean guy at my table and of course he’s a guitarist. I ask who his favourite is, he says “Shaun Baxter”. Wow, I thought, that’s a deep cut!! It turns out he had studied with one of Shaun’s protégés in Seoul and had moved to London to further his studies at whatever surviving guitar college it is which was spawned from GIT (I forget the name, his explanation was very confusing!) So I asked him whatever happened to Baxter. “Retired” he said. Thats pretty much he only way his profile could become even lower, I thought. Anyway we need some professional produced videos of Shaun performing and teaching, and of course another album. Hopefully that will come sooner or later. Separately, there are some promising developments in tinnitus research. It might be partially “cured” in the next ten years. I suffer somewhat myself. For more see www.reddit.com/r/tinnitusresearch/
