Not overextending yourself is a big one! Something I am definitely still learning as a wife of 2 years and a mom. It’s a process but I’m making progress ☺️

i really appreciate the message that a healthy family can come from you even though you didn’t from one. for a long time i have tried to force fixing my relationship with my father because i didn’t want healthy minded guys to see me as the girl with daddy issues (aka not marriage material). i recently made the decision to cut him out of my life and my anxieties of being seen that way have definitely risen. i have been working on myself for months now and still have a way to go to be emotionally/mentally well enough to be a good wife and mother, but it really was nice to hear as a reminder. i know your life isn’t perfect but i truly resonate with your content so much because you’re living my “dream” life of being a stay at home wife and homemaker with a healthy and happy, Christ led marriage. I pray for your beautiful family and thank you for your content❤️

Dear Caitlin, i am so grateful your videos! I discovered the empowered wife because of your videos and I my relationship is thriving ever since. We even got engaged in May and are soo thrilled! I loved that you touched on the topic of your husband being a different personality than you, it‘s the same with my fiancé. Even though I just like him so much as a person and he got me through so many difficult situations sometimes I get insecure when I see couples that seem to be the same person and personality in two bodies. We are told to find the one who can read out mind and instinctivly know all of our opinions, but I don‘t think that it‘s necessary. Over time you influence and learn about each other, so you might end up knowing everything anyways. Could you elaborate on the personality-part more in a future video? I would be so interested to hear about your perspective on how „compatible“ and „the same“ you need to be to actually be fullfilled together. Lots of love from Germany🥰

I have been loving your content lately. I so agree with every point you’ve made, I am also a SAHM coming up on 7 years of marriage. I love your point about remembering that you and your spouse should be BEST friends above anything else. It’s easy to forget that the friendship is really the foundation of a happy marriage (at least for me) and that it’s ok to be vulnerable and lean on each other when things inevitably get difficult. When our FRIENDSHIP is thriving, our marriage thrives as well.

It was so important for me to hear you say that bit about not getting married “for the sake of getting married”. I would LOVE to be married and having babies, and I’m under a lot of pressure to produce grandchildren ASAP LOL. I need to remind myself that marriage will only happen for me when and if the Lord has that in store for me❤

I’ve been happily married for 3.5 years which I know isn’t really long. 😅 I agree with all your advise. I would add that I work at being a “safe” person for my husband. Like he can tell me anything and I work at reacting calmly so that he always feels he can tell me anything. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything he shares. I just try and be respectful with my reaction. I absolutely love watching your videos. I got into your channel because I had my sons 14 months apart.

That last tip about being a cycle breaker was my favorite. Would love if you made a video opening up more about your childhood experiences, I think it would help a lot of women!

This was so good! Love having a good longer video to listen to while doing laundry and dishes. Been with my husband for 19 years now. 9 years dating and this will be our 10th year in marriage. We have one child who is 11 and now it seems like life is a little easier and calmer these days. I look forward to more of your videos!

Caitlin, I got so tearful towards the end of the video when you were talking about CPTSD because I also have it, and I feel like I sometimes sabotage my marriage because of patterns I learned in my childhood. I've been a subscriber since 2019 and I adore your videos. Thanks for the sisterly advice xx

That point about not stretching yourself out too thin to be a perfect wife is so valid and important. It's one of the best pieces of advice I got from my dad as an engaged woman. 😅 My dad saw me trying to be perfect at home after I got engaged and he warned me not to expect perfection from myself. The thing is, when you try to be perfect, you also expect that of others and it does lead to resentment. I really need to learn this. Once again, great video! You are wise beyond your years 😂❤❤

It reminds me that just as much as its biblical for a woman to respect her husband it's instructed that a man should love his woman. And one of the main characteristics of love is being "patient,kind,not insisting in your own way" : 1Cor 13:5.

I love your videos so much! Especially since you’ve gotten into Laura Doyle. I love her work. 🥰 I love your point about martyrdom. I believe women hold each other to *women’s* standards of what it means to be a good wife. While men may appreciate a clean house and home cooked meal the way they would appreciate a tidy roommate and their mom’s lasagna, it doesn’t stir romantic feelings for them. And that helped me let go of the expectations I was putting on myself. I have also gotten criticism from other women for how much help I get from my husband. I think it’s just a sign that you’re following the intimacy skills well. 😅

I’ve been married fifteen years, and we have five boys. My husband and I have a good amount of stress in life, and a special needs adoptive son. So we have the normal ins and outs of disagreement. When we can’t agree, we come to God’s word to unify us on whatever issue we have. And usually one of us needs to humble ourselves in the Lord and get on the other’s page. Anyway, I have made it my life’s purpose to be my husbands best friend, respect him and show him how much I’m thankful for his life. I hardly have to focus on my kids emotional needs because they seems so secure and involved in our family. My husband is very loving towards me, and I notice that other men at church see how much he likes to be with me. It’s a blessing to have a Godly marriage. You have to put the other persons needs first, and in turn that thankfulness for then fills you up.

I have to say as a trans women who came to this video for advice, the rant about femininity being in your genes felt... off...

I agree that resentment is the number one relationship killer. And that by saying no more often or doing less it could prevent you from resenting your husband. However, how do you know that by saying no more often and doing less it won’t eventually lead to him also saying no to you more frequently or even him being the one resenting you over time? In my experience showing generosity inspires that in others and the opposite is true too

I just passed my 1 year wedding anniversary but we’ve been together for 11 years 😅❤ we have a great dynamic but we desperately need a date night. I have a hard time leaving our toddler and going out and doing that stuff but i need to make more of an effort for sure.
