But with every protagonist, there is an admirable adversary: this one being of a red, fat doctor. Happy 33rd Birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman! Here's to more years ...

Fun fact: hidden palace was scrapped for the first release of sonic the hedgehog 2 but now it’s used as a secret zone in mystic cave act 2 but a cutscene where sonic becomes super sonic

You know, maybe when you collected 6 emeralds and got to the next checkpoint, the player could be sent to the hidden palace zone, there you had to find a master emerald and from it the 7th was given, and the one going to was skipped, at the beginning of the next ones they gave 10 rings, but every second checkpoint was broken
