Okay so what’s the issue causing noise?

Did you ever find out what this rattle is my 2011 Ls is doing the same thing

I think I hear my high pressure fuel pump knocking while in drive or reverse but not in neutral . Do they knock when going bad? I see a leak there so I need the gaskets as well. Thank you so much.

Did the sound of the engine tapping go away? Thats one of the most important things

Check all bushings related to the front end suspension. Check struts for any oil leaking from them. Most likely corporate is going to be the brake hardware. Check all brake pad retaining clips and pins. Each calibur has two pins one top one bottom. If the retaining hardware comes loose the pins can back out and cause this noise your hearing. 👍

I had a similar noise, The Lexus dealer spent $8000 on the warranty company replacing the control alarms, They gave it back to me they still had the same sound, At the end of the day it was the clips on the brake pads

Air suspension I'd say is why I got my08 without air suspension no issues

In order to replace valve cover gaskets, to check or replace timing chain or to check or replace camshafts you have to remove the fuel pumps.

I have 2007 ls460l doing same thing. Was it the front air shocks?

Forward lower control arm. Ball joint is bad

you have to swap the air-suspension at the same time for complete fix. probably it's loose by now, and can't help in stability.

I quite agree with the guy below, should have torqued the bush nut down after ride height was established. A common mistake.

The bushings in the front control arms of these cars ALWAYS wear out. My LS460 is an '09 with less than 90K and the control arm bushings are completely shot. I am preparing to replace them all. There are two upper and two lower control arms on each side in the front (eight total for both sides). They should all be replaced. Based on my research, the Mevotech Supreme control arms (RockAuto) are the best and better than OEM (FAR less expensive than OEM). They are very heavy duty and all have grease fittings, unlike OEM. Of course replace the sway bar end links while you're at it (Mevotech Supreme $20 each). I'm going to also replace the outer tie rod ends (Mevotech Supreme $20 each). All these parts have ball joints and/or rubber bushings that wear out. If you're like me and the shocks/struts are original, replace those too. My shocks are toast (non-air suspension). I'm doing everything at once because I don't want to get more than one alignment. VERY IMPORTANT: As SterlingSoundz mentioned below, there is also a ball joint pressed into the knuckle that the big lower control arm sits on top of. IMHO, if you replace all these suspension parts and don't replace that lower ball joint in the knuckle, you are not replacing one of the primary components that is likely worn out. The problem is, Lexus/Toyota does not sell the knuckle ball joint by itself. It is part of the knuckle. You have to buy the entire aluminum knuckle (around $550 retail/$300-400 online). I am not going to replace two perfectly good knuckles (minimum $600 in parts alone) just to replace those two lower ball joints in the knuckles. There is an alternative to replacing the knuckles. There is a high-quality aftermarket ball joint for the knuckle. Febest part number 0120-USF40F. You'll need to find a shop to press out the old and press in the new ball joints after removing the knuckles from the car. The replacement ball joints are around $50 each. If you replace all these parts, you essentially have an entirely new front end that will drive and handle like new and should last for a very long time if not the life of the car. Since my car is in great condition (other than the front end) and I probably won't buy another Lexus V8 in the future ($100K+), I'm planning to keep this car as long as possible. Hope this helps.

Brake pad rattle. I can't get rid of it on mine. Nothing works. Pads, rattle springs, shims....nothing. Shir still rattles

He had his jaw shot off but will survive. He starved to death 5 months later.

I change everything still same noise next week going to change from air to coilovers. If not going to help I'm gonna have to listen music louder.

I’ve the same noise problem with all new control arm installed. Later found out its was the upper strut mount is bad. All that noise is from the bad upper struts.

My Machanic told me its my driver and passenger side spindle knuckle ball joint- I guess there’s a ball joint that just comes with the spindle - lets see ? The part goes for 651 each

When I watch that video, I think I see the lower rear control arm pivot in the azimuth rather than just moving up and down as it should. Has anyone tried replacing that lower control arm bushing?

The hard thunking sounds are not the pads. I actually plan to take the plastic cover off on the firewall side of the wheel well and see if there is something behind that that could be making the sound bumping against the frame or body etc...

happens to my 07model LS460 with factory air suspension as well, same sound. Ive been listening this typical noise carefully for the past 6months, went to dealer and a number of local independent mechanics. the noises are from air struts, not bushing or control arms, particularly on bad uneven road. solution 1: install new OEM struts, dealer provides written quotes 9000Aus Dollars including GST, Plus another 1000 labour. solution 2: Coilovers, which I intend to do.

It’s the breaks ur missing the hardware the keep the breaks from smacking against the rotor this had me going crazy for a month ugly sound
