The difference is that you're not meant to remove and attach a katana blade regularly. The design itself if sturdy and very katna-like. But the usability as a toy, ot so much.

You're right to be confused as the official communication around this has been really bad and changed a few times. Based on what we know now, the first 100 have been signed and will be abailable at the link in the description at 8am Pacific on the 12th. Once those sell out, there will likely be a separate listing for the other 2900 non-signed sets. Whether or not you'll need to be a D23 member for those, and exactly when they'll become available is currently anyone's guess. I'd recommend keeping the browser bookmark for a "lightsaber" query on DisneyStory.com readily available and check back often.

@@TheRockster27 Nothing new. Just get online 20 minutes before it goes live, make sure you're already signed in, and keep refreshing until it puts you into the waiting room. Then hope for the best.

​@@TheRockster27 Update: Looks like the non-signed Clone Wars sets will be released on the 19th at 8am Pacific. No word on whether or not D23 Gold is required. And the leftover Chosen One sets are now available at Dok Ondar's at Disneyland (not Disney World).

They should since they had the vote on that one 4 years ago and realessed all the sabers on that first vote except for the Anakin padawan and the other ornate saber

I would be surprised if they sell out at D23, considering how much other exclusive merch is there too, competing for people's dollars. With the D23 Obi-Wan set, it went to Disneyland about a week later and took several weeks to fully sell out. So the chances of finding a "smuggler" to get one for you from there should be better. Happy hunting!

You have to line the blade up to the groove and then make sure it's pushed all the way in, so that the hole in the blade connector lines up with the hole in the metal.Try wiggling it around a bit so the screw goes through without the hilt, then try it with the hilt.

@Fanporium so I tried sticking it through the blade by itself and it wouldn't fit. So I had to use a drill bit to make the hole bigger and now it's fine. Thanks for the advice though. Must have been a defect

@@thepickleanic Yeah it’s been out of stock in the US for about a year. Only the non-removable-blade version is available in the parks. My theory was they were getting ready to rerelease it under Anakin branding, now that the yellow Rey one has that name. But it hasn’t happened yet. So we’ll see.

That's a very fair point.

Not from Disney directly. You're pretty much stuck with third party marketplaces. eBay usually has a lot available, but at very steep markups. Craigslist and Facebook can sometimes have some good deals, depending on who near you happens to be selling something (and how much they know about what it's worth). The Galaxy's Edge Discord has a retail+20% cap on what can be sold there, but that translates to the high demand things showing up less often. And there are a ton of Facebook groups and other places that I'm less familiar with.

Some of the items you can buy off Disney Store dot com (inventory changes frequently). But yeah, for a lot of the smaller items it's a matter of either getting them in the park, having someone else pick them up for you on their trip, or overpay for them on eBay/FB/etc.

@@robertcruz5507 Teah, they did the same with her Clone Wars hilt. I’m disappointed but not surprised. At least with this one you can kinda justify it by saying it’s Ahsoka after her shoto was destroyed. But I doubt they knew that was coming when they made this.

@@Ding-2014 Probably because I don’t have “black series” as a keyword and the date limit likely makes it get more selective on a full match. I’ll add that in later today and see if it makes a difference.

You probably still have it in demo mode. There’s a switch on the hilt for on / demo / off.

Ahh, I see that you mean. There's definitely a slight dip in the audio when it loops, rather than a continuous background hum. The other ones definitely do a better job of masking the transition. Good catch!

What do you mean inaccurate? That is Darth Maul's lightsaber.

Product development is all about tradeoffs. Custom makers don't have to worry much about usability or liability, as they target a very small market of mostly adult enthusiasts. So they can get away with thinner hilts that use teeny tiny retention screws for blade attachment. Disney targets the mass market and is under extreme legal scrutiny, so they have a higher usability and liability threshold. That's why you see them using the thicket but easier to use blade push-and-twist blade connectors. Doesn't require metal tools or swallow-able screws, but means you get a slightly chunkier hllt. The tradeoff also usually involves doubling the price of the third-party sabers, as Disney uses simpler electronics and mass manufacturing to keep costs as reasonable as possible, while third party manufacturers can't scale as effectively. And for kids, the third party market doesn't have anything even remotely as accurate of feature-rish as these Disney Store toys FX ones at anywhere close the the $34 price point. They're a pretty phenomenal bang for your buck, if you ask me.

What are you expecting? For a cheap $35 toy to have multi hundred $ custom made saber quality?

Fun fact. Hasbro's old Ultimate FX series (which these ones are Disney's version of) included an Anakin saber that would let you change the black color from blue to red and back.
