I've been trying to remember Ted Chippington for ages. Used to hear John Peel playing his stuff and thought it was fantastically funny and silly. In my memory I thought it was Frank Sidebottom for ages and was baffled there was no mention of this stuff in the book/ film Frank! I'm so pleased I've found this and have been reminded of Chippington. I've got lots of stuff from him saved to watch!

Viewing as a Canadian, I must say, so MUCH general intelligence displayed by the British in the form of humour. And how quick people are to laugh at and enjoy gaffes. You'd never find this on U.S. TV, which is what we mostly get in Canada, or, with rare exceptions, on Canadian TV. It is why I watch British comedies on line and on DVD's from the library. PBS used to play a lot of British comedies, including recently, Cleese et al's HOld the Sunset, but not nearly enough.

17 Jan so Happy Twelvety all! The date is still observed by the wassailing traditions of the Westcountry in England who have preserved the traditional date of 12th night after Christmas. 17 January is old 12th Night, which was celebrated until the Calendar Act of 1750 introduced the Gregorian Calendar and mucked the dates up.

The box sets are dirt cheap on ebay. I still buy some DVDs/Blu Rays because the old shows won't always be on streaming platforms or torrents and they're very unlikely to be republished in any format. You can make international news by showing the deceitfulness of some written judgments, yet the media refuse to confront society with the concept that we should be asking many legal professionals and their justice ministers What do you think you are doing? Latin presumably fails to provide that question.
