My grandpa has Alzheimers and he’s in the late stages already, he’s bed ridden and can’t do anything from himself anymore. I remember when he’d do this test and now he can’t do answer or comphrend anything shown in this test. It’s just so sad, the disease just takes everything away from you. And now, it’s just hard for me to imagine a time 5 or so years he was able to even attempt this test because it’s so bad now
Dear heavens all that explanation, just say it!
People actually get counseling after dementia diagnosis? My husband has been diagnosed twice and has not had any support. How does one get counselling like this in Michigan? Does our PCP make the recommendation for this?
The PA in my neurologist office was actually smiling while telling me I have Alzheimer’s he was actually excited!
Isn't that swell get a damn cure
When he drew the clock looks to me like he drew 9:55 am not 11:10, or did I miss something?...No one else caught this?..(Maybe im getting dementia)
I think I could not do better than the participant.
How can they make a diagnosis without amyloid showing up on brain scan? I see this is 9 years old!
If we could only all have a physician like this! Empathy, facts and listening skills.
I am 42 and I just forgot why I went into the kitchen, so I came back and wrote a comment instead :) (but I did remember all the words at the end)
As the Gen X'ers and Millenials get older, the analog clock face test will not be fair
I personally find the interviewer very calming and knowledgeable. My brother 81) has just been diagnosed with dementia. His doctor is one of the rudest I have ever encountered!! I am basically educating myself.
There should be a ✅️ box option when you sign an official will "inject me with a needle and let me die peacefully" shall I ever go crazy
What a lovely councellor
What's the examiner name ?plz tell me anyone
I thought he did pretty good with the test. Bless him
This doctors great Asking an old man to List all the words that start with the Letter F 😂
He did better than me.
Wanna know my F word! Asking how long before we have to 'put him away' No compassion, and I have an A word for the doctor too
The doctor mentioned that the nurse did tests with him. I saw the doctor doing memory tests with him and I thought he did pretty good. Counting backwards by 7, I could not do in graduate school. I just never did that kind of math in my head.
I don't know how old this couple is but the wife is very attractive.
Scarey diagnosis. I feel for him, too.
I’ve never been good at math in my head..I’m a visual learner so I would have failed
This is also in Urdu language and I am using it for my patients 😊
If only all Doctors were like this. Also we clearly see how life can change in an instant
I’m 40. One was ordered. Kinda worried
sad. he got caught looking. Supplements would have saved him. Dont be foolish people.
have you been sick this past Fall or spring? My wife and I havent. Early 60s. Prevention is everything!
foolish men get prostate cancer before their 80s. I and smart men daily eat pumpkin seeds and wont. Fools pay the price; sorry, way it is.
had blood work done this past month and when the doctor walked in the first thing he said was you have the blood of a child. Told him i take supplements and he said keep doing what you are doing. Wife and i take no meds.
This doctor is one of the few best in today's world
Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.
Didn't the Dr himself administer the cognitive exam? He said the nurse had done that? Now I am confused.
Sam seems like a really good guy. Hope he is still with us.😊
I hope Sam is still with us.😢
He knew he screwed up with the F-tap. he was just anticipating too much.
"Sir, I regret to inform you that you are mental".
This is an excellent video very clear information and it was made 9 years ago! The Doctor is an excellent communicator and provides a good balance of information, empathy, realism and positivity. Very frightening disease it must be awful to be labelled but maybe a relief too if positive support to navigate is available. I’d love to know how this family is doing, they are so brave to share their story, thank you.
everyone forgets things I don't care who you are there must be other things at home he's doing even the test he was doing a perfectly normal person could forget tht as well lost car keys where you park your car phone etc etc
The man being tested had a very good sense of humour. My Mom passed away from dementia at 93, not a pleasant thing to go through for her or the family. I find i do these tests just to see if i have any signs. The funny thing is that when they give you the 5 word test, i have done so many that i remember the odd word from the test i did 6 months ago. Must be something with the long term and short term memory. My mom's long term memory of things she did as a child remained into her last year but her short term memory had left 3 years before. People who deal with this in their lives every day have to have patience and empathy. My mother in law now has alzheimers so my experience with my mom has taught me that. Such an unpleasant disease.
Yeah it’s so sad. Im sorry, my grandpa has it. He’s in the late stages and it’s so bad he can’t do anything for himself. So seeing this test, I can’t comprehend how he managed to do it 5 or so years because he literally couldn’t do a single thing on it now. It’s so sad
I've done serial sevens so many times I have it memorized. My doctor started doing serial 13s.
I’m 66 and I took that test just last week. He did better than I.
Cool I passed with 99% the testing of name objects by letter I have no idea how well I did there was no gage to compare to
I'd like to know what kind of Dr and organization this is...
Good doctor, they must feel helpless in the face of a disease they can't cure.I hope the couple had given permission to share this tragic moment in their lives.
I think Trump must watch this video before every stump speech.
I got to do this after brain surgery. Like 100 times before i was cleared.
I know this is supposed to be serious and all that but that "Hi Sam. Nice to see you" at around 4 seconds was so incredibly robotic 😂
I know of a former president who should be tested.🤔
Dealing with parents in their 80's. Step mom has dementia and is really losing it quickly despite many types of medications and doing activities like putting a simple puzzle together... now my father n law is losing his memory. It's so sad. We are having this test done for him today. We've watched lots of videos from this dr and he's really good at what he does. We appreciate his videos. Very educational as we know now what types of tests are available, what is asked etc. Thank you doctor.
