    Existing tile wall. How do I know if it’s porcelain or ceramic?

    • @glassbeveller
      @glassbeveller Před dnem

      @@stevewaclo167 the edges of porcelain are clean, flat, square & the colour of the surface of the tile. Ceramic has different colour on tile edge & a masonry drill bit will drill with ease. Porcelain / a masonry bit will take a white to drilll & the drill bit will melt

    Hi mate, Thank you for great and clear instructions. Can I use this technique for my sliding door glass which complies with Australian Standard AS 1288:2021? Thanks

    • @glassbeveller
      @glassbeveller Před měsícem

      AS1288 is toughened glass so existing glass can’t be cut . New toughened glass with a hole 👍 if it’s safety laminated glass it can be done by an old skilled glazier but that level of skill nowadays is rare. So just swap out using new glass thanks 👍

      If it gets slower & time consuming then sharpening required by drilling into a sharpening stone. Really works well then 👍👍 thanks for the comment

    Thank you for this... and help me pray today.. I bought a HUGE glass cabinet to build a paludarium.. 140cmx120cmx50.. And i need to cut a 15cm hole into the side to be able to reach the electronics after it is set up... I might have taken a little to large of a bite to chew because i cant lay it flat to cut a hole into it.. but ok,, it either works or it cracks and the whole thing will have to go to the scrapyard haha..😅🤣 Thank you for this video very clear explenation, ill try and go about it like you showd,, thanks again mate 🙂

    i tried the same red diamond drill,,,,,,,,,,good for 10 holes,and it took 8 min for 1 hole,then the dirt fills up the inside of the drill and you can not go deeper. The fat inside lasts only for 2 holes then it is mixed with dust and it is a 15 min job to clean the inside of the drill. Switched over to the older style with an opening in the side,added the trick with the masking tape and did 10 holes in a row in 10 minutes. The package says "no water needed" but that is bull S.

    • @glassbeveller
      @glassbeveller Před 11 měsíci

      Believe it or not once you’ve been doing it for many years gloves are a pain. Required for safety & dangerous cutting & glazing jobs of course but if you (really) know what your doing it becomes optional in most cases . It becomes like working with wood 😂

    can you easily cut a circular hole in a car window? I want to put a stove in a camper conversion and would rather not cut a hole in the body. The windows are curved and not perfectly flat

    • @glassbeveller
      @glassbeveller Před rokem

      Curved glass has some tension in the glass so 80% chance of it breaking when cutting the hole. If it’s toughened / tempered glass it can’t be done ! Cheaper to get a clear polycarbonate sheet cut to size that can be flexed to a curve with a hole in. DONT use Perspex, curved glass with a hole ( min) $1,000 I hope that helps you out. 👍
