Quarantine Bach: Suite No. 3
In a casual conversation between friends we established this project to keep ourselves sharp and focused during our time away from our respective ensembles. We decided to each work up a movement of Bach's 3rd Cello Suite (in G major) in 20 days and record where we were at that moment in time.
Initially, we only intended to swap recordings and share our own individual process in practicing Bach, but as the project progressed we decided to share it publicly. Our individual processes came together to create a project that unifies us, despite our current circumstances of Covid-19 induced quarantine and connects us as musicians, ever-moving forward.

Superb
This sounds even better than some cello versions I've heard, great job :)
Bravo!❤️❤️
Hey Carl, do you do any teaching in Boston?
Hi Louis, Thanks for the question! I have not been teaching much as covid had so closely coincided with my move to Boston. I am affiliated with NEC's Prep School. However, I am open to taking on private students of any age.
@@carlanderson175 Great. I'm a bass player from London. A student of mine (He's 16) moved to Boston during the pandemic and I've been giving him online Double Bass & Bass guitar lessons. I'm not great with the bow and he's recently started using a german bow (I use french). I've been thinking about suggesting to him that he get some classical / bow lessons with someone local and so I found you through the BSO website. Is there a way I can contact you directly to discuss further?
lovely,thank you
Amazing. 😍
hi, do you have the transcription in G for the bourree ?
read it like tenor clef
I am impressed by each and everyone's preforms and significant contribution to this project. Very commendable your effort and aligned to accomplish such a goal. You all sounded good, in tune, good taste and clean. Cheers! I play in the bass section of Guanajuato University symphony orchestra, Mexico.
Hey, I like this
Dear Carl, beautiful playing! Where can I get the sheet music in this key? Thanks!
www.lemurmusic.com/mobile/Schumann-FANTASY-PIECES-Op-73-for-Double-Bass-and-Piano/productinfo/BUC28/ Here you go! This is the edition I used. Happy practicing
literally speechless
BRAVI TUTTI! Beautiful performances from all and the best edition- Stirling.
Are those flat chrome steel solos or orig flat chrome solos?
These are actually Pirastro's Flexicore Deluxe Solo strings. The C string is a normal Spirocore orchestral string.
Carl Anderson very cool! thank You. You sound great. Have you tried other strings on your bass in comparison?
@@Anonymous-rp4hn Yes, I have tried quite a few.
Carl Anderson what do you think about the Belcanto Solos or the original Flat chrome solos? I use the bels and they sound very robust but quite dark and dull at times
@@Anonymous-rp4hn I have never been a big fan of Bel Canto solos for the reason you just said. I think that if you have a darker instrument the flat chromes would work well. The only issue I have with the flat chromes solo is the feel. They end up responding a little late under the hand. Most solo strings do this, but it's a little more noticeable with the flat chromes. Bel cantos feel the most similar to orchestral strings, at the expense of a bit of character.
Glad to meet some people doing the Sterling edition! All double bass pitch.
Bravi Tutti!!
Bravo Carl! Beautiful bass, what is it?
Thanks, Aaron. It's an Italian bass attributed to Zenetto- owned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Awesome! Congrats on your job and for getting to play such a beautiful instrument!
i agree, I have always loved the darker basses!
This is great Carl.
I appreciate you listening! Hope you are well, Kelton.

Thank you.
There is nothing like the sounds of angel eyes
Wow
I won't cover my ears; I WANT to hear this, again, and again.
Hi dude, could you tell me where you got the piano part in orchestral tuning? Awesome recording!!
Thanks Max, Ausgewählte Stücke Published by Dvfm Spielstücke It's a collection of Bottesini pieces and it's fantastic. I'm fairly certain that the piano part was for orchestral tuning as well. Happy practicing!
Breathtaking, young man! Well done. Thank you.
