Testing TOULOU Single Bevel Broadhead Performance.
The question I get everyday is “What’s the best broadhead?” I don’t really think there is one answer to that. But the question I do have an answer to now is m “What do you shoot?” I’m going to shoot the Toulou right twist 100 grain single bevel broadhead. These things are sweet. My biggest question with any fixed blade broadhead is, do they fly like my field point? The answer to that is usually NO! Today we will testing these new broadheads for durability as well as “ How do they fly?”

$220 is a bunch of cash to lay out for 6 arrows, could they possibly be worth it? Well, that depends on you. Do you want to buy a pile of match grade arrows, search for the matching components, then spend a few hours wrapping and fletching those arrows? Ironman was a good target until I shot it too much. Maybe I'm being harsh but an expensive target I expect to last more than a year. I tuned 4 bows including nock tuning at least 6 arrows for each bow. I made it a year and my Ironman target was in bad shape and I milked it out to the very end. It was still stopping arrows but the arrows would get absolutely fused into the kevlar making it extremely difficult to remove the arrows. I used the ironman in my archery basement paper tuning @6yds and then sighting in bows and practicing at 10yds. For the price I paid I expected more than 12-14months before it was time to retire it. Granted I shot this target with thousands of arrows from faster bows so most would say I got my money out of the target. I was just hoping for more life that's all. My new basement target is a bulldog target and I chose it due to the warranty and the fact that I went from an 18" ironman to a 24" bulldog and the bulldog was the same price. I've considered the spiderweb target's for my next purchase hoping to get a longer life out of it than the ironman. A lot of bow hunters shoot like 50arrows per year and the ironman would last them a long time. I actually enjoy archery and shoot a lot weekly and found if I hit the same spot on the ironman 7-10 times the arrow would get absolutely fused into the target, once the spot was "blown out" nothing changed by switched the target or shooting at different spots. Now my bulldog has been hit hard for 5 months, if I hit the same spot 10 times the arrow would almost go thru the target but flipping the target around or shooting a slightly different spot seemed to rearrange the media and the target keeps on working. Either the ironman is a sacrificial target for high volume shooters and you accept that or I would look at the bulldog or spiderweb targets.

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před 27 dny

      Dude! That’s some great information I really appreciate that. I think that Ironman is probably better suited as a crossbow target. You don’t shoot it nearly as much so it would last forever. We had the Spiderweb here for years and it worked great. In your situation as much as you shoot I think that would be a great choice. Thanks again for watching and your analysis.

      I’ve got the 29X too. I feel like the consistency across the lineup is a little better with the Ravins. I still say these 500 FPS crossbows just can’t hold up to the power they generate. Example, I can swing a golf club as fast as Tiger Woods, but I have no idea where the ball is going. 450 is all I’ll ever need.

    If the serving gets damaged due to friction will the bow string need to be replaced or can I just bring it to a bow shop for new servings?

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      Most shops can reserve the center serving for you. The problem is most don’t have a string jig where you can put the string under tension which is how they are made originally. So they can reserve it but it typically won’t last very well.

    My son bought a 505 last year blew up on 6th shot nothing my kid did wrong ten point did not stand behind it at all and talking to dealers are tough to deal with on warranty issues if you dont believe me ask many dealers about there issues i feel to fast without proper engineering hence the new design 515 for this year but paying alot of money for a bow it should maintain a durability and quality for a long time

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      As a dealer I will bend over backwards to get warranty work done for my customers. Tenpoint is usually very helpful. And I believe at 500 + FPS the engineering on these crossbows has out paced the components. It’s difficult to get them to hold up at that massive amount of power being stored in the limbs and cables.

  • @michaelcurtis8114
    @michaelcurtis8114 Před měsícem

    When I get a new crossbow I usually cock it and let it set for about 30 minutes before I shoot it. Then I shoot it about 25 times. It helps the limbs break in and stretches the string a little bit. If you don't shoot it enough before you hunt with it, the string will stretch while being cocked and your shot will be off when you fire it. I know this because it happened to me.

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      Just like with a bow you want the strings to settle. That’s great advice. Thanks

    I prefer a heavier crossbow. It's easier for me to hold steady on the target.

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      Again, just like a bow. Heavier bow, heavier rifle or a heavier crossbow are much easier to hold on target. Thanks for watching.

    That’s when you put it in a press and do the necessary twists on string and/or cables to get it back in time. Proper maintenance would be to check these things periodically and not let it get that far out to start with

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      You can’t really twist these Ravin cables. But you are correct, you don’t ever want it to get that bad. I’m surprised he hadn’t already blown it apart.

    • @charlesbeaver5665
      @charlesbeaver5665 Před měsícem

      @@TrinityWild you most definitely can twist the cables and the string as well. I do it all the time to tweak everything just right so I can get the most out of my crossbow .You just can’t twist the cables as many times as you came the string. A lot of these shops that will put new string and cables on have no idea how to time these bows.

    • @MonkeyTime-kq1bs
      @MonkeyTime-kq1bs Před měsícem

      @@charlesbeaver5665I think some places don’t even know you have to get cams timed on a crossbow. But those Ravin cables won’t twist more than a time or two. Plus I would only do that when installing them. There was no way twisting cables was going to fix this one. lol

    Just got a 10x - first ever crossbow. Little nervous on uncocking it. You mention shooting into a target, do you recommend a good target that doesn’t take so much force to remove the arrow?

    • @TrinityWild
      @TrinityWild Před měsícem

      amzn.to/3Yux4Fh This is a small Delta McKenzie bag that you use just to shoot into to de-cock your crossbow. You can keep it behind your shooting house or in the back of the truck. If you want a really good target just for shooting and sighting in check out the Big Shot that I did a video on a few months ago. My granddaughter pulls out the bolt with 2 fingers. Hope you enjoy your Ravin, they are pretty incredible. Thanks for watching.
