    What about a dedicated furnace kept rather coldish for off-gassing and gas capture/filtering? Then, once off-gassed, use the gas-less ore in your normal furnace? I haven't done this myself. Just thinking out loud.

    Looking good Xero. I know I'm watching 5 months back, so I probably should check your recent ones, but a minor suggestion.... If you carry a portable light (I forget the exact name) in your uniform (or any inventory slot?), it casts more light to the surroundings. A selfish ask, but it makes watching what you are doing in the videos easier with better lighting. Positive side effect of not draining your suit battery.

    Impactful is a keyword when designing in engineering. This is a criteria for evaluating the targeted values of the design and its impact on the target audience. This is useful for the stakeholders when picking designs that would be profitable and sustainable. These are my understanding of the word impact. When designing think of the values not of the impact.

    Love plus mod, it's nuts! Anyone who attempts it gets a thumbs up from me :) We almost completed it just before update 8, but then the update broke the mod and we gave up, I understand it's even more challenging now. Might try again after full release....One thing we learnt is when you think you have a big enough space for a specific factory - quadruple it! And managing waste products is critical. Good luck :)

    You could have turned the housing off to keep the code from running. Then shut off the input pump and the exhaust pump would still be powered on.

    33:30 put small transformer in front of APC. Battery is higher priority and takes all the power you can throw at it leading to APC not getting any juice. Transformer gets higher priority than battery.

    I'm looking forward to following your restart. Lessons learned for me as a viewer? Manual control of the powered vent should be controlled by IC. Too many times it ran when it shouldn't have and pulled in hot air with the last one bursting the tank. The garden could start sooner and in a smaller space; perhaps more protected/isolated from the living area with frames rather than walls/windows connected with spaces containing high-pressure tanks. More power generation and solar tracking the sun. A single trade for temperate water and another for temperate oxygen would have been a game changer. Trade coms/control/vending machine inside for easy, anytime access. I'll keep watching your restart to see what other things you change.

    Out of curiosity, would the plants grow faster if the grow light were on a bit longer? You would need to respect the min darkness time, typically around 5 mins / day I think. So perhaps the grow light would be on for 14m/day and dark for 6m/day rather than the 10m and 10m in your chip currently. Thoughts?

    At 42:46, the gas mixer is set to 67%/33%, but the temp of each gas is different resulting in an oxygen-rich mixture. You could adjust the gas mixer to higher percent on Input 1 to bring the resulting fuel mix to 2:1.

    My best guess for the damage was heat damaging a chute and then an ore escaping and offgassing something combustible, or pollutants or water has gone to liquid in the tank

    Grow light can be turned off while not growing since it's a power hog. And, Mars gets enough light for potatoes so as long as you are not planting in shadows, you don't technically need grow lights. Also, for faster growth, you can use logic / IC to have the grow light on longer (read a few mins before sunrise and a few mins after sunset) as long as min darkness is respected (varies by plant.)

    At about 26:30 you ask yourself about what would be different. I have a guess... Since you are using "On" when the chip is in the filtration device, once it turns itself off, it can't run the IC code to turn itself back on. However, since you combine the logic onto an external housing, the Filtration device can turn on/off. I really should experiment, but I guess "Mode" may toggle active vs idle to allow the onboard chip to work, but since the device would remain on, it's likely to be less energy efficient than just shutting down the device. No idea how much power an idle filtration device uses.

    Loving this series. I know I'm 9 months behind, but learning in almost every video. Thank you for these! I'm looking forward to when you go back to Vulcan, but I refuse to skip ahead for the same reason you came to Mars. FYI for those of us still figuring it out, in IC10 scripting, "db" is a special register for the device housing the chip. So, if it's in the AC/Filtration unit, then it's a register pointing to the unit itself (Me in VBA I'm thinking). When the chip is mounted within a housing, then that is a reference register for the housing.

    You mentioned refrigerant at 55:12 but the large fridge doesn't need you to pipe it. It sucks in N2 from the environment if I recall. It just needs power.
