This was perhaps the birth of really good sit-com TV. The script was performed before a live audience and appealed to an audience that knew skillful writing and didn't depend on canned laughter and pratfalls. It also highlighted the ensemble cast, so that each week a different actor was given a good chunk of time. Sue Ann Nivens, Murray, the head writer, Ted Baxter, Rhoda, Phyllis, Lou Grant...the list is endless!

I wasn't born when this show was on TV, but watched reruns many years after show was canceled and I LOVED this song and this show so much as a kid. 70s must've been freaking amazing..... the music, the fashion, such an iconic era.

My Aunt Tina put me on Mary Tyler Moore Show..Once I heard the theme song.I said'Yep Imma like this show'.

I always likd the MTM trademark with the meowing kitten.Then Bob Newhart used it, and he actually said,"Meow."

It's was a funny 70s show that also dealt with some issues of that decade.its sad that Mary ,Ed,Gavin,Ted,Georgia,Betty,Valerie,and Cloris are all gone now.
