Alien Vendetta "Hell of Flame" Secret Area (Map24: Clandestine Complex)
There is a non-official secret area in Map24: Clandestine Complex of Alien Vendetta, called a "Hell of Flame". It is an area dedicated to prominent Doom speedrunners. To access this area, you must cross a teleport line in a cave entrance. This takes you to a locked building near the beginning of the map, that you pass by (the door cannot be opened from the outside).
In Vanilla Doom, you can access the cave entrance by using a jump from an Arch-vile attack, and then you scale the rocky ledges to get to the entrance. An Arch-vile can be released after picking up the nearby Red Key, so you need to lure the Arch-vile up into this area and be aware of any monsters he attempts to resurrect. I weakened the Arch-vile so that I could finish him off quickly once the jump was complete, as another hit would have killed me.
Once inside the Hell of Flame area, you can leave by walking over the lettering on the ground. In this area are several monuments, including a mini-replica of Map07 from Doom II (Dead Simple). One area is a bit tricky to access, it requires a precise jump where you either risk undershooting the jump or overshooting and hitting the ceiling into the area. I didn't make it on the first attempt, so I simply cropped out the attempts in between, hence the awkward transition.

One of the more frustrating levels to speedrun in the game, the biggest obstacle is the beginning of the level, where your weaponry to take down the Brutes isn't that great. Easier to speedrun this in Coop, where the Master Chief starts with a Battle Rifle, which can clear out the groups of enemies a lot quicker than the other weapons at hand. The most common speedrunning trick here is the grenade jump in the shuttle bay to skip a large portion of the level, getting right up from the bottom floor to the third floor. Surprisingly got this playthrough in one clean shot, although I did make some saves to start off levels. Episode 3 is probably the easiest level to beat on Nightmare, as many of the levels are wide open, so it's easy to maneuver around monsters. Rewatching this battle in light of recent events
Between this and Unfair Magolor Soul. They absolutely pay attention to mods.
The worst part is that Mush likely wasn't even at full strength, since he was still coming off of being power drained by Grubba.
Use the Para-Koopa air raid attack to rid the little clouds. This will prevent Huff-Puff from recovering each round. It will speed up the match.
The Tuff Puffs in the rematch have enough HP to survive an Air Raid, as well as a Mega Bomb from Bombette. In the first fight I did use Air Raid to clear out the Tuff Puffs.

Do you know where the second safe is in this level? I've been scouring far and wide but I haven't seen it anywhere. I swear I remember finding it as a kid in the mainframe room but it's just not there.
This time, instead of forming a tower, they just fight separately, but they can support each other. Red can increase someone’s attack by 1. Green can increase someone’s defense by 1. Yellow can temporarily electrify someone, so it helps to equip Zap Tap. Black can temporarily turn someone invisible. All of their supports can be removed with the Star Beam, so if their support starts to become too much, remove their buffs with Star Beam. You can knock them down, but as soon as it’s their turn, they’ll get back up and act. Yellow is weak against dizzy attacks. Black is weak against paralyze attacks. Green is weak against sleep attacks. And Red is weak against stop attacks.

Yes, I play with a controller, I can't imagine playing any Nintendo 64 game on a keyboard, way too many buttons to map out. I use an actual Nintendo 64 controller that's connected to a USB adapter (the adapter I use has two controller ports on it, so it could support a second player if needed). The adapter works great, only setup I had to do on Windows if I remember was to recalibrate the controller.

This was kind of a messy fight the way you went about it. Im assuming you did this just for fun and didn't really have that much practice or strategy ready for this fight. Just half expected you to show us how to best handle this fight and stuff
Yeah, I think this fight was largely done on the fly, it was one of my first attempts since these guys had their AI in the rematch revamped. Some of my other fights are definitely planned out (the Tutankoopa and Tubba Blubba rematches for example, which I had to do in a specific way), but this one had more freestyle to it. I think maybe a strategy here was to try to keep at least one Koopa on a status condition throughout the battle? Each one is vulnerable to a specific status but 3 is more manageable than 4!

Nah, it's a graphical bug, it's properly giving +1 defense, I believe this is fixed in later builds of Master Quest.
I hate how you didn't get any star points for winning the battle. However, I think it was because both HP and FP and even BP already reached it's maximum amount.

Thank you. Really what this comes down to is luck that Janus will spawn immediately and that the flight recorder spawns right in front of you. I managed to get a run slightly less perfect than this with both and STILL almost missed it by 3 seconds.
